“Great for an afternoon bike ride.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

Bring your cross or mountain bike and ride the trails from Baylands south and across the bay for as many miles as you wish. Its obvious that this place was not well cared for environmentally in past generations but a lot of work has been done by the communities along the shoreline and the results are spectacular. If you are a birder, there are many species to view and literally thousands of nesting and flocking waterbirds of all sorts may be found. Water and bathrooms are a little sparse on the trail so plan ahead.

“Bird watchers love this place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

There is a very long, long wooden pier that leads you to a look out point over the southern SF bay. You will be haunted by your trip. There is just way too many birds, boats and ornithologist professors! They are a delight to talk with and have a spooky cool knowledge of this wildlife preserve.

“we go bike riding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

It's big, nearby, and good trails to go for a short, easy bike ride. Trails are gravel though so not great with a road bike.

“Peace and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Bring a birding book and head to the visitor center, then walk out on the board walk and see how many you can identify! Also has long running/biking trails that are popular, but they can get hot. A nice place to relax away from the bustle of the area.

“Great for kids, nature, hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Baylands is a great place for bicycling, viewing different species of birds, migratory birds during different seasons, walking,, running, or biking. We walked the Lucy Evans Nature Interpretive Centre. The trail extends out to the bay. It's a lovely walk, though it can get quite windy and cold. There are hotspots for viewing migratory birds throughout the year The trails at the preserve extend to Shoreline Park in Mountain View. The best part about this preserve is that is is less crowded and is another "new place" to see right in your back yard. Its free and worth every minute spent in nature. Must see !!
