“NIce and near campus”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Best place to eat by Stanford Campus and right by Stanford Shopping Center. A little pricy, but nice selection of food and wines.

“Interesting food, a bit shabby interior”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

We dined at the California cafe a few times - the food is interesting, the portions are ample, the wine selection is adequate. The restaurant serves lunch until 4:00 PM - very convenient for people who like late lunch. The salads are usually good and the bread is divine, not to mention the olive oil/ capers/ chopped olives dip - just delicious! Their special events and holiday menus are noteworthy and well executed. Particularly interesting are their 5-bites Fridays on the first Friday of every month, which feature specially prepared chef menus and wine pairing of a particular winery for only $25! The one in November was outstanding! The interior of the place is getting old and needs some serious sprucing up. Service is generally gracious, though not always very professional. Still, a very good, relaxing place with reliably good food.

“Really run down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

There are some excellent menu items remain, but this once-wonderful restaurant has been tragically allowed to fade. The interior is desperately in need of improvement.

“Lovely setting, mediocre food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012 via mobile

A lovely setting for sitting outside on a beautiful day. Beyond that the food was relatively tasteless and mediocre.
