“Ambiance best, drinks second best, food third best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

This place is good, don't get me wrong, but NOLA it is not. However, the great ambiance, the surroundings of downtown Palo Alto and the wonderful drinks and atmosphere make up for it. Again, food is very good, but I have had better NOLA style food outside of NO. Would definitely make a return trip when in the area.

“The Next Best Thing to being in NOLA is NOLA'S Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We wondered around Palo Alto and found this fun spot to rest our feet and stop for a drink. There was a great Happy Hour menu. The Black & Blue Ahi Taco's were tasty and gumbo was delicious. After coming off the heels of Mardi Gras in Texas to stop at this place by accident was a delight.

“Happy hour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Happy hour from 3-6pm where you can get 1 of 4 cocktails (mojito, ginger julep, margarita, or sangria), or beers or wine, for around $5-6. Definitely worth it, and the appetizers are a good light dinner. I've had the wings (I like the spicy ones better but both are ok), fries, fried food platter thing, etc. - all are good depending on what you feel like! Better service if you sit at the bar itself rather than in the lounge, but the lounge chairs are comfy - sometimes sadly filled with families with kids, but otherwise can be a good time. Enjoy!

“A little bit of New Orleans flair in Palo Alto, CA.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Nola is a little taste of Bourbon Street in downtown Palo Alto. Nola is owned by the Avenir Group, who also own Town Reastaurant (Steak house) in San Carlos, CA and Milagros Restaurant (Mexican food) in Redwood City, CA.
The ambience inside Nola makes you feel like you're eating at Pat O'Briens just off Bourbon Street. The BBQ shrmp appetizer is as closest to Nawlins style food you're going to get in the bay area. The hurricanes and sazeracs are traditional drinks from New Orleans and they do make them well. Give Nola a try and I think you will enjoy the dinner as well as the locale.

“Beautiful building, Fantastic Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2012

If you love old, rustic, colonial Spanish-type architectural buildings that serve great New-Orleans/Mexican fusion foods, you'll really enjoy this place.

I highly recommend the skirt steak, the penne, and the jambalaya (but be warned that if you order "spicy," it will be spicy!). You could prob skip the fish tacos, and the raspberry mojitos. My sister in law said the fish tacos weren't that great, and the mojitos were more fruity than alcohol-y.

but i'd def go back when i can and try other items on the menu!

They open at noon at least on Saturday (which is when we went).
