“Bringing New Orleans to the SF bay area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

If you want some great Cajun food and the party atmosphere of New Orleans, this is the place to go for lunch or dinner. The food is outstanding and the drinks are very good and yes, they have hurricanes!

“Good Food, Fun Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Nola isn't in New Orleans, but squint your eyes a bit, pretend that everyone's accent isn't quite so Californian, and you are just about there. And what the heck, since we're in California, let's dress it up a bit and have a good time!

Nola really nails it when it comes to atmosphere. The folk art is tremendous, the wrought-iron work is perfect, and the big central courtyard all give it exactly the right feel. The menu lists their entrées under the banner "cajun con-fusion", although it could say "cajun cal-fusion" and you would get the right idea. Nevertheless, the flavors are pretty authentic and everything tastes great. Lots of yummy starters to choose from. There's something for everyone in the entrées. The jambalaya is their signature NO dish. It's very good, but don't miss the étouffée if you love seafood. It's the best I've had anywhere. "Mr. T's" skirt steak will send you to heaven. Want alligator? It's there!

Good bar menu with something for everyone too. Of course they have a Hurricane, although it's a bit sweeter that it should be for my taste.

Nola is super-popular (for good reason) and busy pretty much every day of the week. Make a reservation if you plan to go.

“Great place for food and big beers.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

I've been here three or four times over the last few weeks, and every time has been great. The menu is really good fun, the beers are huge and the food does not disappoint. I'd recommend Mr T's Terikayi Skirt Steak - wow that tastes good. Another highlight was the jalapeno corn bread, which is delicious, but very filling so best shared. My boss tried the spicy penne pasta caliente style, which was definitley too hot for most, but he seemed to enjoy it.

Looking forward to going back again next time I'm downtown.
