“Excellent place for classic films”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Stanford theater is a wonderful place if you like catching up with old Hollywood classics on the bid screen. It will help you relive the old world movie viewing experience. Currently they are playing the 'Hitchcock Film festival'. They are closed on mondays and Tuesdays. Each week they screen 2 movies. The location is accessible and close to the Palo Alto downtown. You can buy popcorn and soda for a very cheap price inside the theater. I love the live organ performance on weekends. “Love this theatre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This is the perfect spot to see classic movies as they were meant to be seen. The organist that plays before the show is wonderful!
There's a Hitchcock film festival playing through March; I'm looking forward to seeing "North by Northwest" on the big screen!

“Excellent theater, excellent movies, excellent price!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013 via mobile

Come see great, old movies in a grand, restored theater, at a wonderful, low price. Even the candy, popcorn, and soda is cheap! But the experience is fantastic!

But some like to bring a pillow as the chairs (upstairs, at least) are a bit hard. But I don't mind. I love this place!!!

“Great Theater for 'Oldies'”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Don't miss a chance to visit this beautifully refurbished non-profit theater for great classic films of different eras. Double features are still the norm, with an excellent organist who plays tunes of the past during intermission. Admission and popcorn are inexpensive. Quite a treat for old movie buffs.

“Awesome Place in Palo Alto!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

Perfect for Palo Alto, the Stanford Theatre screens old movies in an old-fashioned, antique-y theatre setting. Between films, a live organist pops up from the orchestra pit. The seats are comfortable, theatre/opera style. It's just a classy experience overall.

Tickets aren't very expensive: less than $10, which is a rarity at most cinemas today. And the popcorn? Two. fitty. Two dollars and a half. You could pay it in coins. For a large.

It's also right in the heart of downtown Palo Alto-- meaning plenty of nice bars and restaurants are in the immediate area for before or after!
