“Cozy French restaurant with great food and service, at very reasonable prices.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

One of our new (as of end of 2012) favorites. Great food and service, cozy atmosphere, and all at prices you'll pay at average upscale restaurants.

“Great french ambiance”

Helpful, friendly staff. Very nice authentic french ambiance. Heavenly Tarte Tatin. Plenty of french "classic" dishes

“Great neighborhood gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a wonderful French bistro run by a long-time restaurant owner in Palo Alto. It is very small and feels authentic. Max, the owner serves about a dozen typical French bistro dishes along with daily specials. Portions are large. I especially love the salads, coq au vin, fish dishes, mussels, and fresh vegetables. They are also open for brunch with fantastic eggs dishes and beautiful sandwiches. There is outside dining on California Ave which makes the experience even more Parisian.

“My family and I loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

The food was delicious and authentic. The experience was wonderful. The staff spoke French, the chef came out and made recommendations about wine, appetizers, meal and desert. We had a memorable experience.

“Three strikes, you're out”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

Had a business dinner here with a group of 10 people. Pastis definitely struck out on my dinner. I ordered swordfish, the daily special, but didn't finish it --- not because the portion was to big, but because I didn't like it. Likewise, for the scalloped potatoes with cheddar -- potatoes were harder than I thought they should be. Strike 3 was the chocoloate mousse -- very heavy, which surprised me a lot. A colleague at the dinner was also disappointed -- she said the salmon was too salty. We shared a creme brulee, which everyone enjoyed. I heard it was a french fusion restaurant -- maybe I'm being too hard on them, but I was disappointed.
