“Surprisingly hip and fresh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2009

Apparently this Travelodge is newly renovated and what a great surprise! From the outside, it seems to have had its heyday in the 60s. I was expecting the usual rundown, very budget type hotel but this Travelodge is pretty hip. The vintage decor of the outside actually fits in very well with the new rooms. The rooms are bright with dark wood furniture and aboriginal type paintings on the walls. Huge closet and comfortable king sized bed. Internet was a bit slow but to be expected.

The bathrooms are nothing to write home about and the only somewhat "eh" to the room (no fan). Not too terrible though and with the comfort of the room, definitely ok with me.

Location is pretty close to downtown though we drove instead of walked. The streets of PS are pretty complicated but it wasn't too bad. We happened to be there the night of their weekly downtown market so that was a fun little side trip.

Service was average -- nothing special though they did get me in and out pretty quick. Efficient though not particularly warm.

Breakfast was your usual fare and the room is actually under construction. It looks like it'll be really nice when it's done though and I hope they keep their rates relatively the same because it was a great value.

I agree with the previous reviews. This Travelodge is above average. Yes, they are in the middle of a remodel but it doesn't affect one's stay by much. The office and breakfast rooms are currently located in one of the rooms but it doesn't effect the quality of service. Mike & Sarah, at the front desk, were very friendly and helpful. We had a minor issue with another guests loud stereo during the night and it was handled immediately.

The room: updated with microsuede chairs, a desk that's adequate for a computer and paperwork with plug-in nearby (wi-fi connection was iffy but got the job done), beds are comfortable with new white duvets and pillowtops, newly painted, sliding doors (in some rooms) that lead to patio or balcony, remote controlled air conditioning.

The bathroom: updated with new sinks and lighting, freshly painted, The bathrooms do not offer bathtubs only a small shower stall but have very nice adjustable shower heads. Toiletries offered are simple (small soap, shampoo).

The breakfast is basic but a good start for the day: cereal, instant oatmeal, toast, bagels, juice, coffee and milk.

All in all it was a very enjoyable and clean stay. Thank you Mike & Sarah for making us feel welcomed. If we're ever back in the area we will be staying at the Travelodge.

The hotel is under renovation (lobby and breakfast room in rooms 105/107).
Great clean renovated room and nice gardens. Two pools. Pool areas were dusty (floors and chairs) but not really a big deal.
Close to downtown et great prices compared to other hotels.

The place is really perfect for a tourist. The location is great, the hotel is on one of the major city streets - Palm Canyon Drive. The rooms are quiet and spacious, with all the basic amenities one may require. The staff was really freindly and helpful. The breakfast is quite unpretentious, but that's just enought for the girls. We have chosen a pool view, they also offer you mountain view, I did not see the other one, but ours was really great.

I've never stayed at such a nice Travelodge. The rooms were new and spacious, the staff was super friendly, and breakfast was included, all at a superb value. I recommend this hotel to anyone.

The pictures were nice but the place was much cleaner and trendier. They totally remodeled this place to the max, I bet the owners spent a lot of money making it look this nice.

  • Liked — The new feeling to it and its very trendy
  • Disliked — The fresh paint smell.

It was in a very good location in Downtown Palm Springs, close to the restaurants and boutique shops. We saw the beautifull resort area, with a the heated pool & spa, there where guests bbq in the resort area, which was a big plus for me and my friends. The rooms were brand new and very hip, just like the advertisement on the street.
The staff was very helpfull and pleasant, the housekeepers cleaned our room everyday, the views of the mountains were amazing. If you are looking for a place to stay which is affordable, clean, comfortable, and good customer service, this is a place to be. Plus you have brand new rooms with great rates. I will diffenantly be back next year.

  • Liked — the modern rooms, clean, comfortable, and inexpensive
  • Disliked — no room service
