I spent many hours researching where to stay for a brief trip(over night on the way to LA) to Palm springs. I was looking for a place nearest to the down town and one that also had easy access to the mineral water pool. I had tough time deciding because of so many choices and variety of reviews for the properties but I decide to give this hotel despite some negative comments.
I arrived around 9:30 pm on the 12/30. One thing I noticed while driving into the beginning of the Palm Springs road was that the town was showing its age (I remember visiting the town more than 20 years ago..) and lot of the hotels reminded me of the 70's.
The Spa hotel structure was also from the 70's but it seemed well maintained. The casino right across the street looked very good and attractive. The casino is quite good (browsed through inside also). I'd say it is on par with any other casinos in Vegas(except for the shows).
The valet offered to take care of unloading when I drove up but I prefer to do it my self so he said I could park near the front door and unload - quite friendly guy.
The counter person was also friendly and helpful. Got my keys and was on my way to the room in couple of minutes. Impression of the lobby - nothing impressive, but clean, friendly layout.
The room was very clean - having read many comments about various features of the rooms and such, I did a brief inspection of the room and I did not see any problems. Overall the room was pretty spacious with two queen beds. Bathroom had the granite top, the tub was clean, sheets were pretty good quality and they did a pretty good job remodeling and the several accent furnitures looked pretty good.
There were three pools in the comples: 1 regular pool, and two pretty good sized spa pool which has the mineral spring water. Our family went down to the spa pool the next morning early and had the pool to ourself which was quite nice. The pool area was clean and I saw couple of crews finishing cleaning up as we arrived.
We were going to go to the breakfast buffet after the pool, but it turns out the buffet in the casino is only for adults, so we had to turn back and eat at the hotel restaurant (Agua bar & grill). The food was okay but I thought the price for the breakfast was too expensive. The basic egg/hashbrown/sausage with toast was 11.00 and a small glass of cranberry juice was $4.00. I think there are plenty of restaurants nearby that have more variety of food and more reasonalble price.
Overall, I enjoyed the stay at the hotel and I would consider returning next time.
