My husband and I spent four nights in the Library Room in November, 2012. We have stayed in some of the best hotels/resorts/inns in North America and The Willows tops all of them! It was a truly wonderful experience. This historic inn is wonderfully situated just two blocks from downtown, yet it is so quiet and peaceful. The inn is decorated in 1930s style; the Library Room had rich, hand-carved furnishings--and yes--lots of books! This room is ideally located off the main house's patio. Most other rooms are accessed by first passing through the great room.
Because I have dietary restrictions, the staff accommodated my needs at breakfast. My husband, though, was able to indulge completely in the three-course gourmet breakfasts! Hors d'oeuvres and wine were served every evening either in your room or in the great room--your choice. Steve and Gordon were very professional, helpful and friendly. Steve gave us a tour of all of the rooms of the inn, excluding the one or two that were occupied at the time, and told us the history of the inn, formerly a private residence, which was fascinating. He also booked our dining reservations at Le Vallauris (separate review).
The grounds are beautiful and the pool area lovely and private. The Library Room has its own private terrace.
We most definitely will return to The Willows, probably next fall. It is one of the few places I can recommend without hesitation. It was pure luxury!!
