“Agree about the mold ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

Having stayed at Canyon Club a few times, I share the view of others about the bathroom mold situation. Palm Springs has a dry climate so there is no excuse for seeing so much mold and mildew in the rooms. And all it takes to remove mold is a bottle of chlorine bleach. It's hard to understand why the owners would not invest in a bottle of bleach to get better reviews and repeat guests. Really hard to figure this out...

I have stayed at this hotel 3 times over the past 4 years. The first time, I was in a room near the steam room, HORRIBLE MOLD issues in the bathroom. I complained and they seem to not care. 2 years after that I stayed there for an event, stayed in a room upstairs in the corner, once again HORRIBLE MOLD issues in the bathroom. I thought ok will give them 1 more chance as the prices are reasonable, just got back from staying there this weekend, got the same room upstairs this time as 2 years ago, mold is even worse and horrible stains all over the carpet, my feet and socks were black from just walking around the room. There were some tiles chipped off in the shower and mold behind them as well. They had painted the room since I was there last to try and cover up the mold. Even though the staff is nice, they don't seem to care anymore if you complain, I would say they are used to it and it goes in 1 ear and out the other. ALot of the chairs around the pool were broke, pool toys were thrown all over the outside of the pool and the 2 1/2 days I was there, no one ever seemed to pick them up. The bath towels are torn and frazzled. I just don't seem the owner cares about what it looks like, very sad as I enjoy the clients that come to stay there.

I'm rather surprised at some of these reviews.

It's true the place is a bit run down. But it's also true that it's a work-in-progress and some of the rooms have been seriously renovated and are marvelous. The place may not be in the center of "gay life" in Palm Springs (wherever that may be ... the whole city is like 70% gay!), but is incredibly close to fine dining and shopping. Prices in the off-season can't be beat and during "in season" reasonable. Sure, other places have nicer rooms and grounds: they also charge much more and no one, and I mean, NO ONE, has as big a pool as they have. The garden and its maze are also nice to walk around (and do other things) throughout the day. The staff is friendly and open to giving suggestions. The crowd tends to be older and often "bearish", so don't go there expecting hot twinks you see in your porno films! Breakfast is very continental and a bit limiting, if you don't like carbs. But you can always go to the diner next door for more of a selection.

Chris and John, the owners, will do everything they can to make your stay pleasant. They're quick to respond to requests, complaints, criticisms or anything else thrown their way by even the most demanding guests and respond politely and with a smile.

If you're looking for haute cuisine and posh atmosphere, this hotel is not for you. But for a peaceful stay with good rooms, excellent prices and nice guests, this hotel can't be beat. If you can't deal with their generous rule about pets --- when most places won't even LET you take them into your room --- then stay home and complain to your boyfriend about it over a chocolate martini and a Bette Midler album!

2.5 stars. Bath outdated. Just a tube of caulk would do. The staff very accomodating. Missing fixtures. Furnishings descent. Room lacked light. Too far from gay scene. Lovely gardens. Fix the path to garden. They do allow for pets.

The staff at Canyon Club could not have been more accommodating. They upgraded my room to a suite overlooking the entire resort. This was my 5th stay at the Canyon Club and they certainly recognize and reward repeat guests. There are so many choices when visiting Palm Springs and I always leave the Canyon Club with a smile.

This is a somewhat tired venue for gay men with some amenities for those who are looking for action although that did not seem to be the major draw when I stayed there. The staff are attentive and generally helpful. The common area is remarkably shabby but the rooms are decent. Continental breakfast is the bare minimum. If you are opting for the cheaper rooms, stay away from those fronting Palm Canyon. The two smaller rooms at the back are a better option.

Spent two nights in Early November at Canyon Club again. Room was on ground floor near front entrance; Previously I had a room on Second floor which had a great view of the compound.
This time the room was just OK. It did have a comfortable bed, but window looked out on trash-filled back-lot; not very appealing. Pool was excellent, clean and plenty of chairs. Hot-tub also very nice and popular. Back area of yard and gardens very nice. Decent breakfast with pastries, cereal, juice, coffee.

Not the fanciest resort in Palm Springs, but I must admit prices were quite reasonable...you get what you pay for! If on a tight budget, you may want to consider Canyon Club. If you are looking to splurge and go first class and fancy, there are numerous other resorts to choose from.

Also, Canyon Club is very convenient to Downtown, perhaps 15 minute walk, and Thursday night street fair is just a 10 minute walk.
