“Art Deco Eligance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2009

The Desert Riviera Hotel is a wonderfully restored Art Deco residence, comprising just 10 rooms located around the equally wonderfully restored pool ...... but what made our stay here so special were the many little things provided by the owners ie the non-stop supply of coffee and cocoa 24 hours a day; the basket of goodies on arrival; the myriad of candles and lights which were lit around the pool every evening; the free use of bikes; the ongoing replacement of towels around the pool etc.
The decor was fantastic. The rooms have been wonderfully restored in a minimalist and tasteful fashion - they were comfortable, clean and welcoming. The whole place was so atmospheric, and yet so well located for exploring the Desert Valley and surrounding area. There were some excellent restaurants within walking distance. In the end we were reluctant to leave Desert Riviera Hotel, and look forward to returning in the future.

This was our first visit to the Desert Riviera and we will certainly return. Everyone there understands hospitality, customer service and what it really means to be a host. From the first "would you like something to drink" when we checked in, to the guided tour, to the dinner suggestions, cleanliness and friendliness, the folks here make everyone feel welcome.
The owners are always around and happy to help. The rooms are comfy with a 50's revival feel, down to the leopard print bed spread.
It is less of a hotel and more of the ten extra rooms they have available for friends.

We call the Desert Riviera "Home away from Home" -- since we've been staying there with our family about 8 (!) times, and have occupied all of the tastefully decorated rooms by now! The outdoor area around the pool is also beautifully decorated and landscaped, plus the pool is heated nicely, so you can swim without shivering. They offer a great selection of free movies to watch, great view of the mountains, kitchenettes and outdoor grill and firepit. Free bikes, free limo rides into town--but most of all its the owners who make you feel welcome and ensure that all your needs are taken care of. This is priceless :)

I'm in the travel industry, my husband and I have had the pleasure of staying at a variety of properties over the last 7 years from rental homes to higher end and boutique properties. We literally booked this hotel after a 2 minute conversation with Larry the day before we caught a flight from Calgary to escape the cold for a last minute birthday getaway gift from my husband.

***Desert Riviera is by FAR the best experience we've ever had in all of our travels***. Larry, Patty and Judy were truly wonderful ambassadors for Palm Springs, they're the kindest, sweetest folks and we can't recommend or thank them enough!!!!

We arrived at the hotel ( about 10 minutes after picking up our luggage off the belt... no kidding) and we were immediatly greeted as though we were friends. This beautiful property truly is a gem with modern and well designed rooms, perfect little kitchens and thoughtful, practical details that were very much appreciated. We left (after staying one day longer than we originally intended) feeling as though we were family. Book them... they'll spoil you so rotten you'll never want to leave!!!

Merry Christmas to you L,P and J!!!! Thanks again, see you again soon!

the place is just great. No kidding. every day & night the owners are everpresent and making your stay just like home, only better! so close to cafes and the village of old downtown palm springs. the rooms are quiet, clean and perfectly appointed. the nightly "fireplace scene" is great if you want to socialize a little with other guests. with only about 11-12 rooms, its never crowded around (or in) the pool. lots of parking. there's no point in going anywhere else if you want to be close to old palm springs.
our searching for a great place to hang out in palm springs is over!

We had a fantastic time over Thanksgiving. We decided to book this hotel on the basis of all the reviews posted here. It was our first visit but from the moment we arrived we were genuinely made to feel like old friends.
The rooms are spotless and the service is as good as it gets. The limo was great fun and meant that we didn't have to hire a car for most of our trip. The bikes are also very useful and we used them a few times to cycle to different places for breakfast. The staff really are as friendly, helpful and attentive as the previous posts all suggest. The in room massage from Pleasanne is also highly recommended. We really wish all hotels could provide a service on par with the Desert Riviera. We will be back. Geoff & Rosie (Chicago)

Where do I begin......within 30 seconds of being there I knew we had made the right choice to stay here. Beautiful landscaping, relaxing atmosphere, and 5 star hospitality. Larry, KC, and Judy were very welcoming and friendly.... They were always making sure everything was the way you wanted it to be... The rooms are very well decorated and comfortable. It feels like you're at a friends house and with the communal fire pit you're able to meet everyone else that's staying there. We even had a "backyard BBQ" with everyone, which was amazing food by the way! Anytime we go back to palm springs... This is the place we'll be staying. Highly recommended and have already told many people about it already... Being in the hospitality business ourselves, we cannot express how much it means to us to go somewhere and be able to completely relax and have absolutely no worries!! Thanks again Larry, KC, and Judy for making this a perfect vacation... We'll see you again in the near future.
