“Larry, Judy, Patty, Bob and Steve- all wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2009

Tip 1: make sure you get the right hotel. One of the reviews below is commenting on a different place (one with a fitness room and resort charges- which the wonderful Desert Riviera has neither of)
Tip 2: Think of this hotel as an object lesson in how to run a business. They simply have thought of their customers needs and met or exceeded them all. Everything from the free bicycle hire, to the 24hr free coffee and fruit, to the superbly equipped rooms. Even more than this is the attitude of everyone who works there, especially Judy and Larry, who simply personify customer service.
Tip 3: If you want to, you will make friends. Around the firepit, sharing a glass of wine, chatting about your day and planning the next one.
Tip 4: Do ask Larry or Judy or Grandpa Bob (what a nice man) for advice on where to eat and what to see and do in the area. They will recommend you a place, book it for you, arrange for the limo to take you and really make your stay stress free.
Tip 5: Book it. We must have stayed in dozens of hotels in several countries. This one is truly something worth experiencing.

This was our second stay at the Desert Riviera, and I can't imagine anything else they can do to make your vacation a pleasant and relaxing one. The services, the friendliness, the amenities, all make it pretty near perfect. We spent days riding the complimentary bikes, hiking the nearby Lykken Trail, lounging by the pool and making new friends. Evenings were taken up by cooking on the grill, which Larry set up and helped with, and a limo ride to a nearby restaurant. There is always coffee and fruit available, along with lots of suggestions and information. There is never a single thing dirty or out of place. A joy to be there!

We were on our way to Las Vegas and stopped for a couple of day in Palm Springs. Staying at the Desert Riviera Hotel was way beyond our expectations. Larry, Pat, Bob and Sue did everything they could to make our visit wonderful. The room was spotless, the pool and hot tub were perfect and the location was central to everything in Palm Springs. We intend to stay longer on next trip.

We had a very enjoyable and restful vacation at the Desert Riviera Hotel. We spent days sitting by the beautiful pool, swimming, reading, and just relaxing in the well tended and landscaped court yard, watching the busy hummingbirds feed, and listening to soft music. When it was time to eat or go see the sights the owners were there with copies of the menues of the various resturants in the area and information on what events were going on. They made reservations for us and delivered us to our destination in a limo. In the evenings we could sit by the fire pit and visit with the other guests and the owners. Our room was great and the king size bed was oh so comfortable. We had a very restful and wonderful experience and hope to be able to return for our next little get-a-way.

We travel a lot and are fortunate enough to be able to stay at a multitude of nice places. Desert Riviera is just incomparable to anywhere else we’ve visited! Last year, we could only stay for short time on our way through to Arizona. This time though, we came for an entire week and we’re planning to return for a week or two every winter. As I write this by the impeccably maintained and beautifully landscaped pool and courtyard just outside our room, it’s February 25th and snowing back home. Here though, the sun is brilliant in an almost cloudless blue sky and the temperature is a near-perfect 78ºF. We’ve just finished a wonderful couples massage and have reservations at the world-class restaurant Europa about a block away. It just doesn't get any better! This week, we’ve enjoyed the sights and sounds of Palm Springs (including the fabulous Palm Springs Follies show) and have had some great meals. It’s been a very relaxing time, something we truly appreciate! Lots of people have reviewed the wonderful rooms and other facilities of the place. We’d like to say however, that Larry, Patty and Judy and their staff are what sets their establishment apart from all others. Never before have we encountered a level of customer service such as they provide. We feel their rates are very modest for this level of service and attention to detail and we give Desert Riviera our highest commendation! We think you’d enjoy it here too and we hope to see you around the firepit (if we can still get in after everyone else on Trip Advisor reads the all the great reviews). Our suggestion is to book early and stay a few more days than you might otherwise. You won't be disappointed!

What made our 8-day stay at the Desert Riviera our best vacation ever?

Could it be the complimentary wine or Mimosa's delivered poolside each day, or maybe the free limosine rides to and from dinner in the evenings, possibly the beautiful courtyard complete with hot tub, 90 degree pool, or fire pit that guests seem to gather around each morning and evening. Maybe the very clean and artistically decorated rooms. Or the available bikes, fresh fruit, and free movies. I could go on and on.

But the real gem at the Desert Riviera is the service. Each of the family members who operate the motel are as commited to service as the next. From Grandpa Bob bringing fresh lemons from home, to Steve helping with some great poolside BBQ sauce, to Judy delivering coffee or mimosas as you relax in the pool, to Patty helping out with dinner suggestions and reservations, and finally Larry, whose 24 hour per day job seems to be insuring you are as happy as can be.

Be prepared to SHARE in the Desert Riviera experience. With only 10 rooms (20 guests), you quickly get to know the other guests. Most seem to gather together informally around the pool or fire each morning and night, getting to know each other, sharing laughs, etc. This family feel, combined with the extremely high level of service make the Desert Riviera a true jewel in the heart of Palm Springs!

Stayed here in October 08. Just got round to writing this now, lol. Anyway thought this place deserved a mention. This hotel is great value for money. We read all the reports on here before we booked and the reviews are not over exaggerated. Larry, Judy & Patty defiantly go that extra mile to make your stay the best it can be.

The grounds are lovely, rooms nice and hospitality the best you will get anywhere. We took advantage of the limo ride into town for a meal at night. Quite a nice touch.

Things that make this place:-
- beautiful grounds & pool
- family run, with staff best ever
- free international calls
- menus of local restaurants available
- PC with internet
- limo use
- complimentary goodies in room
- quiet surroundings
- best hospitality you will get anywhere in the world

Larry owns a car wash and even told me to to take my hired Corvette for "the works".

If you are just looking for a chilled out relaxing break, this is the place. Its a great place to meet some other guests as there are only 10 rooms and in fact we went out for a nice meal with a lovely couple from San Diego.

If ever we return to Palm Springs, we will defiantly stay here again.
