“Intimate retro vibe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

Desert Riviera is a gem of a small hotel. It is quiet, beautifully landscaped, and excellently managed by the friendliest of people. We stayed in an immaculate king room, and our two adult children shared a huge double room, both with kitchenettes. The pool area was wonderful, and we lounged on rafts for a few hours, rolling into the inviting water whenever the heat got to us. Early in the morning, we had complimentary coffee outside our room and read the paper. There are DVDs and books to borrow, and we were within walking distance of both a great pancake house and coffee house. There's a blender in the kitchen, so next time we'll mix some drinks and take them out by the pool! The two nights we were there were not nearly enough, and we plan to return as soon as possible.

We were personally greeted and offered a cocktail when we arrived. So nice! I loved having the pool and gardens right outside my door. It felt like it was my own house, but nicer. I took an early morning dip and read the paper by the pool. I lounged in the early morning sun listening to the buzzing cicadas. I was with a friend but thinking that this would be a great romantic getaway.

If you want a relaxing, comfortable and quiet hotel, Desert Riviera is for you. From the warm greeting by Judy at reception (with your choice of a complimentary beer, glass of wine or bottled water) to a clean comfortable room, great pool area, free to use cruiser bicycles and outstanding customer service we enjoyed our two day weekend stay. We stayed in Room 8 which had a king bed and a small cute patio outside the back of the room. The welcome basket of snacks, complimentary soda and bottled water in the room, morning coffee and fruit in the reception area, free local, long distance and international phone for use by guests, free wifi, the list goes on and on. The pool area is fantastic. Small touches like lighted tea lights at night at the pool add to the relaxing atmosphere. We look forward to a return visit.

Room Tip: Room 8, a king bed, is called the hidden room since no window faces the pool area. There is a cute p...

My wife and mother in law have been here many times and she always comes home bragging about how beautiful and wonderful this place is. This year she ditched her mom and brought her hubby.
We are from walnut CA. And have been to many hotels but this place is the best by far. From outstanding customer service to their house keeping. The landscaping is beautiful and the pool is inviting and the rooms are very clean. But most of all the staff goes above and beyond to make every guest feel very welcome. We are highly recommending this hotel and we will most definitely be back. Manny and Marylisa from Walnut CA.

We had a wedding at the ACE but the room block was already full. Found the Desert Riviera on tripadvisor and could not be happier. The pool and garden areas are very pretty and well maintained. It is not the party hotel. Quite the opposite, tt was quiet, guests were all couples (various aging groups), great to relax by the pool and lay back. You can use the bbq if you want to just stay at the hotel and not drive downtown (although it is just a 7-10 minute easy drive). They have tons of videos at the lobby you can just take to the room (at no cost), although we didn't have time to do that, I thought it was a nice touch. The room and bathroom were nice too, retro decor, well maintained, cleaned and comfortable bed and linens. Nothing too fancy but had all the elements needed to make it comfortable. It is very sweet that they offer a complimentary glass of wine or beer as soon as check in and there is also a complimentary basket of snacks in the room. They also provide 2 complimentary bottles of water (I only wished they had replenished the water after the first night or had it available for purchase)
A plus for us was the convenience of being just across the street from the ACE, no driving to or from wedding, being close to where our friends were yet having a quiet oasis to come back to relax.
I would certainly go back and recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms 8, 9, 10 are facing the street, I would imagine it can be a little noisy. We stayed at room 2...

Spa services were phenomenal. Kristi, Elsa & Judy made my sisters birthday an extremely wonderful experience by taking a personal interest in our needs! Highly recommend the seaweed wrap, facial & Swedish massage.
