We booked the San Giuliano for 2 nights as our mid-point stop off for some rest and relaxation on our 2000 mile road trip. I received a call from Eric the day before we arrived double checking and confirming our reservation which was a nice touch, as the hotel team only operate from a small room at the front and do not stay on site. It therefore offered us comfort knowing we had spoken and they were expecting us. We got there around 5pm and were welcomed by Caesar and shown around. The pool area is well manicured and relaxing with fountains and bougainvillea (look out for hummingbirds), there is an ambient communal seating area and to the left of this you can find the ice machine, and also fresh batches of lemon water made up each day for guests.
We had booked the Ranch Hacienda...wow what a choice! You enter the room through a gate by the steps to the pool and step into your own private garden with grass, sun loungers, outdoor seating area and the piece de resistance...a private hot tub! We went through to the bedroom and could not believe the size of the bed...i am 5"7 and no lie the height of the bed came up past my waist and was so comfortable it is ridiculous...fantastic! The Ranch Hacienda is the only one of the accommodations that still has the original art deco mosaic bathroom, which was so cool as it transported us back in time to the Hollywood glamour days.
Location wise it was fantastic. There are some great restaurants within walking distance and downtown is just a few minutes away by foot, however if you fancy travelling further afield there is a taxi rank just outside Lu-Lu’s restaurant which is on the corner of the crossroads at the end of W.Arenas where San Giuliano is located.
I cannot rave about this place enough! When we checked out we were told we were more than welcome to chill out by the pool if we still fancied hanging around....but unfortunately I had a very long drive ahead of me, and was truly gutted to not be able to take them up on this offer.
In short this place is amazing! The San Giuliano team show so much pride and enthusiasm when talking about the history of the hotel and when showing you around, that it is hard not to fall in love with this place. We certainly did and will definitely be back.
