Located directly across the street from LG's, certainly one of PSP's most widely regarded steak houses, the Chop House is a bit less upper end in décor and atmosphere, comparable in pricing and a somewhat-better & larger selections choice on the menu. Our waiter Raul was excellent with a real personality, not just a professional level server doing a great job; but a true people person without being chatty. Tough to pull off in a busy restaurant. We were there at 6:45 on a Thursday evening and the open air patio was almost full, though only a few tables were occupied inside-including 1 large party. It was hot and the misters were on so it was very pleasant. We each had a glass of Syrah which was served at perfect temperature in nice glasses. We had house salads which were good; but colder would have been better. Great dressing and presentation overcame the near-room temp greens. We split a large filet with a side of fries. The meat was cooked perfectly and served hot in a timely manner. One edge of my filet was a bit too aged (dry); but once I got to the center it was perfect. My wife's piece was juicy, tender and hot. The fries were cooked enough to stay crisp past the 1st 5 minutes which was a nice, unusual touch.
Server call backs were frequent and once we declined dessert, we didn't have to wait too long for the check. The check was almost $100 for 2 with 2 glasses of wine & no dessert; equaling good value for a great experience. As a side note, this is one of the best people watching patios in PSP and there is excellent parking at the rear of the building.
