“Paella is great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

We come to PS four or five times a year and Blue Coyote is a regular place, especially for the Paella, which is wonderful! I'm sure everything else is good too, but paella isn't easy to come by, and Blue Coyote's is wonderful

“BEST MEX IN TOWN!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

I ate here at a suggestion from a friend, who, like me, love good food. So glad I had lunch here! The margarita's were delicious and the food and service was EXCELLENT. Forget the other places in town. This is IT for the best, authentic Mexican food in town. I only wish I had the more time so I could have had another meal, there.

“"Food is more southwestern than Mexican"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

We suspected that maybe something was wrong with this restaurant when we arrived. It was Saturday night at 7PM and there were plenty of tables available (When we left at 8:30, the place was almost empty!)

The dishes served here are not like most dishes served at Mexican restaurants...it seems they have made up their own recipes and items that I have never heard of before. I guess that's what they mean when they say "foods from the southwest" on their restaurant sign.

We were not impressed with their food...red and blue taquitos (!!!), orange flavored chicken strips (!!!), riblets, nachos with black beans and sliced beef, a quesadilla made with flavorless cheese...nothing had really great taste...they were just unusual dishes.

I found their "famous" blue coyote margarita to be a little too tart and not very tasty...I couldn't even ordered a second one.

Unfortunately, we also got a waiter that didn't crack one smile, acted like he didn't want to be there, and gave us minimal service.

The only thing that was nice about the restaurant is the wonderful patio dining area...it was truly nice to sit out in the open air on a warm Palm Springs night

“Once upon a time...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

Once upon a time, I bet this was a happening joint. Unfortunately there was a reason they could take a party of 8 at 8 on a Saturday. Service was friendly but slow, the restaurant was barely full, but only saw 2-3 waiters for all the tables. The atmosphere is festive and the lone guitar player has a bevvy of original hits (either you enjoy kitsch, or dont).

What was most unfortunate was the food. The black beans were crunchy and undercooked. The salsa and ranchero sauce, bland. Even the guacamole has no flavor. Pretty disappointing at $15 a plate. If you are able to go to Las Casuelas instead, please do. or try Maracas down the street. In a word: Avoid.
