Description: Zin American Bistro is an attempt to modernize and Americanize the traditional French Bistro concept. With Zin recently receiving 3 ½ stars and a review of “quite possibly the best food for the money in the Coachella Valley” from author Peter Osbaldeston’s Palm Springs Dining Bible, Chef Nicolas Klontz and wine director Mindy Reed have indeed raised the bar of casual fine dining in Palm Springs. Zin has over 200 wines on their list and has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 5 years. With choices from the Kobe Style Beef Burger ($16) and Mussels & Frites($18) to the Rabbit ($25) or a Prime Hanger Steak ($26) there is something for everyone. Be sure to save room for some house made desserts and a glass of port for a perfect finish. Attentive, friendly yet unobtrusive service with Wine Director Reed available to guide you thru her carefully selected wine list and Chef Klontz greeting diners personally between courses make dining at Zin a night to remember.

“Excellent and Fresh”

Great outdoor setting - with excellent service and creatively good food. Enjoy the fresh mussels, the cheese platter or the amazing cheese cake. Whatever you order - its fresh and amazingly good.

“An Oasis of Flavor in the Desert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine asked me to meet him here for Breakfast. I didn't even know they were open for Breakfast. I'm sure glad I found out. On this first visit, I decided on Chef Lupe’s Crêpe with Bolognese. The sauce has a definite and hearty "kick" to it. I enjoyed it immensely and have since ordered the same sauce over Fettuccine at Lunch & Dinner. There is also an Omelet of the Day available and it's always been filled with fresh, flavorful ingredients.
After 4PM you can order the Couscous which has Lamb, Chickpeas, Saffron and Mergez Sausage. The menu indicates that it is one of the spicier dishes but I did not find it to be overwhelming. But maybe that's because that night I was sampling some of the Bubbles on the Wine List. Where else can you get splits of Piper-Heidsieck and the Zonin by Prosecco? Zini's wine list is so thoughtfully paired for this menu and it is such a joy to have the full meal experience available.
The Staff are very well-versed and personally experienced in everything the restaurant has to offer.
One evening a Server exited the kitchen with something on his tray so spectacular . . . and I swear, it was like a movie: As he passed through the dining room, all conversation stopped and heads followed his direction in slow motion. It filled the room with so much warm, savory aroma that it made your mouth water and damn near brought a tear to your eye. It turned out to be the Funghi pizza. A simple combination of Tomato, Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Grana Padano, Garlic and Oregano . . . And this is what makes Zini Cafe Med special. By using the freshest, highest-quality ingredients, expertly executed, Owner Mindy Reed's tireless fight against the mediocre proves it doesn't have to be complicated to be magnificent.

“Has entertainment potential!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

Hi......im disappointed in the entertainment on a Sat. night! Was hoping to listen to some hip/hop-dancing music!!!! The drinks were absolutely pure yumminess & the bartender "Rob" was fun w/all suggestions on the drinks! Came to boogie & boogie!!! Anyways, it would be nice if there was some consistence?! The Jazz Lady was okay but better suited for a Sunday afternoon/evening?!!!!!!

Thanks for coming in and glad to hear you came in and enjoyed some drinks with Rob!! We are working on the music and have some different live music every weekend until we find the right fit for Zin After Dark.
Next weekend we are having two different groups in on Friday and Saturday playing cover bands and some livelier music so hope you can stop by again and get your boogie on!

“Good food, with Vegetarian options, Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

I recently visited Palm Springs for a birthday weekend getaway. I visited Zin for lunch, having been lured in with the promise of $5 unlimited champagne. My champagne glass was never empty while I was there and the truffle mac & cheese was amazing. As a vegetarian, I was happy to see that there were other veggie options also. Next time I'm in Palm Springs, I wlll definitely return to give them a try as well. The service was very friendly and attentive and the location was perfect.

As a local, happy to have Zin for lunch or dinner with friends. Food always good and creative. Most recent was lunch of wonderful Tofu cakes. The house speciality cheesecake is to die for
