“Sweet Bliss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

We just spent a glorious week at Alcazar and feel grateful for the contentment, relaxation, and hospitality we experienced during our stay.

The hotel is in the perfect location: the salt water pool is surrounded by the beautiful mountains of Palm Springs and we were in walking distance to everything we needed and wanted. Additionally, the hotel is adjacent to two of the best restaurants in Palm Springs. Despite its perfect location, Alcazar still felt tucked away and was quiet and peaceful throughout the day and evening.

The rooms are bright, clean, and decorated with Palm Springs charm. We loved the ambient music at poolside and ice water to refresh ourselves.

The front desk staff was more than helpful. We decided to stay an extra night, and ended up getting upgraded to a huge suite without an additional charge.

Oh how I will miss waking up to fresh pasteries and coffee enjoyed at the poolside. We can't wait to come back.

Great upscale place to stay in the heart of Palm Springs. This place has a very palm springs feel to it. It has what you would expect of a good hotel, clean linens and restroom. In addition, it has a great layout. The rooms mostly surround the pool, so you just have to step outside to be poolside. In our room were two robes to use. In addition to the pool, there is another great outdoor space with a big gas fire installment. Free bikes available to cruise around Palm Springs, oh, and did I mention the complementary breakfast was warm croissants baked from the hotel restaurant? We had a much better time here as compared to staying in a large chain hotel.

We'd been to Palm Springs before and stayed at a highly rated TripAdvisor hotel but just happened by Alcazar on one of our walks in town. That was the first time we met Al who was friendly and informative and cemented the idea that we wanted to stay there. I have to say, we do like the mid-century, modern focus of PS and were immediately struck by Alcazar's updated yet minimalist approach to that theme. It got better: From the moment you enter the ironwork gates and back to the reality of the "business center," Alcazar enchants. But again, we like the whole espresso, fresh breakfast pastry in the lobby thing as well as the stark white floors, walls, ceilings and glass block illumination of the room.

Anyway, while we were staying at the other hotel, I checked out Alcazar on TripAdvisor and found it, much to my surprise, down the list. Still, we decided to stay there and made a reservation for a few months later. Once again, we were greeted by Al who was genuinely welcoming and showed us around. Next morning we met Elizabeth who was also friendly and invited us to take breakfast and coffee (Nespresso, if you like) from a selection from Cheeky's next door (Zagat rated, check it out). Cheeky's turned out to have one of the most interesting and delicious selection of breakfasts we'd ever seen. We actually ended up eating there three times and not just because it was next door.

I guess I should add that we met several other guests who were basically there for the same reason we were---to relax in a kind of iconic Southern California getaway. So, we ended up having a good time with the folks there as well and have actually kept in touch with a couple of them.

Long and the short of it, if you're going to Palm Springs, STAY AT ALCAZAR while it's still "underrated." If you wait too long, you may not be able to get in. I feel like I should also mention (without mentioning names) that I absolutely do not get why the other place we stayed in that was very highly rated could come in better than Alcazar at about the same price.

My wife and I stayed here on our first ever trip to Palm Springs, and it was exactly what we needed. Great room, very clean. In fact the room was much better than we were expecting from the photos on the site we booked through (not theirs).

The location is perfect, with plenty of dining, bars, etc within walking distance. The bikes they provide for free are just as nice as those available for rent across the street - just make sure you get one with the right seat height, as they don't adjust.

We only had one minor issue with the wifi service on our second night - and the person on staff at the front desk responded promptly and kept us up to date on what she was doing to resolve it.

We will definitely stay again on our next trip!

We stayed two nights here for a quick, romantic, getaway. After searching online we decided on Alcazar. Great choice. The hotel is beautifuuly kept. The landscaping (trees, bushes, flowers, etc.) were emaculatly well kept. The room was very clean. Is is a bit stark. All white on white. The floors are not capeted fyi. Which in the end I decided I liked. Who knows what is in those dirty hotel room carpets. This you know they have to keep clean because they are well, white. The bed and bedding were quite comfortable. The pillow left something to be desired ( a little hard for my taste). They pool is a nice size with lovely decor. They have this one wall around the pool with a pretty water cascading thing. My only complaint/negative comment would be the music by the pool SUCKED. Way too boring. I get they are going for a relaxed feel. But the whining emo Enya-esque track that repeated way too often got real old real quick. For a second I thought they changed the music when Foster The People's Pumped Up Kicks came on. But, not such luck. It went right back to a crappy song. So I suggest an ipod and some ear phones. Otherwise, great little hotel. Great tasting "free" pastries in the morning and coffee. Nice hotel staff. Great location. Well within walking distance to downtown. We parked the car when we got to the hotel and didn't back in it until we checked out. Stay here, you'll like it.

Room Tip: We had room #25. Right next to the pool entrance gate. Never heard a gate clang shut once! I loved t...

Hello HCmama,
Thank you for taking the time to submit a Trip Advisor review. We are always happy to receive feedback from our guests. The Alcazar team tries to make every guest experience a pleasurable one. I'm currently checking on the music playlist that is around the pool area to see if we can come up with music that will please most people by having it peaceful in the mornings and more upbeat during the day.
Your comments are greatly appreciated and we look forward to you returning in the future. Please let me know and we will let you choose the music playlist that day.

It was ok. I had high hopes for the hotel and it was just alright. It was very clean. Everyone was very nice. We didn't use the complimentary bikes but loved that they offered them. I love it is attached to Birba and Cheekys. We eat at Birba EVERY time we go to Palm Springs. Not sure what I expected but was not really impressed. Probably won't stay there again.

spent 9 nights at the hotel while the ATP at indian wells was on and thanks to tripadvisor it was a superb choice. stayed in a courtyard queen which was immaculate and very clean indeed. the situation can not be beaten i feel right in the middle of all the lovely bars and eateries of downtown PS. cheekies, the breakfast place was always out the door with Q's of up to 50 from 8-30 until closing at 2pm so didn't even get in! Birba was cool and the food was excellent. last of all the staff were continually helpfull and very friendly which made the stay most enjoyable and a special mention for Robert the GM. always about, always smiling and attentive even outwith the hotel. take a bow robert and all your staff...you have a superb boutique hotel in just the right position so don't change a thing....promise?...as we WILL be back.
