“Great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Stayed here for three nights and would have been very comfortable staying longer. Staff very accomodating and personal. Afternoon happy hour a nice bonus. About 4 blocks from the main strip so quiet yet very close to the action. Free bikes a nice perk. Took one out for a few hours and explored Palm Springs following a few of the marked bike routes.

If I ever get back to Palm Springs again I already know where I am staying: Orbit In.

Room Tip: I don't think you can go wrong here.

I really don't want too many people to know about the Orbit In, so that it stays in the pristine condition that it's in now.
If you love Classic Mid Century Modern Architecture and Furnishings, this place is perfect for you.
If not, you might be better off staying at one of the other hotels in town. You have to appreciate the vintage lifestyle to really enjoy this place. If you want to make a lot of noise and party all night, stay at to the Ace.
No room service, Fitness Center or Spa, just a great place to chill.

Room Tip: If you want peaceful, the hideaway is the ticket. Bigger pool, firepit, great lounge.

We recently stayed at the Orbit In while vacationing in Palm Springs and really enjoyed our stay. The inn takes you back in time to the 50's so that was fun, but the room still had modern conveniences such as a fridge, coffe pot, wi-fi, private patio. The rooms were clean and the front desk people (Jade/Bill) were very nice/helpful. Nice pool area with hot tub amd gas fire pit. The free afternoon happy hour at the pool bar was fun....nice way to meet other guests and socialize as well as try the Orbitini which was very good. Bill was a good bartender. The inn is conveniently located too, not far from the main drag so you can easily walk to downtown. The views of the moutain are nice to enjoy during the complimentary breakfast which is not fancy, but nice. We also appreciated free use of the cruiser bikes that are available to check out Palm Springs. Had fun doing that one afternoon. Cannot say enough good things. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed just one night here and wished we had booked it for longer. The whole hotel is very well presented in the original 50's style. The Rat Pack suite had a comfortable (if a little hard) king bed, cute seating area, functional 50's kitchen and lots of neat touches to take you back in time, especially the pink bathroom. We had a nice glass of complimentary wine during the social hour and enjoyed a swim in the pool and a dip in the hot tub. We liked retro but with mod cons like wi-fi, hot water, fridge, etc. The owner was exceptionally accommodating and genuinely seemed to care about giving us a tour of the hotel and making sure everything was just so. Added bonus was breakfast and free cruiser bikes.

We stayed for 4 nights in 109. The perfect retro feel for a long weekend. Jade and Bill kept all running smooth and personable. The afternoon free cocktail hour at the pool bar was fun and entertaining with Bill keeping the conversation lively and interesting.
We put the well maintained bikes to good use. The lodge is near the end of the road so very little traffic is heard. A 5 minute walk and your right in the middle of things.
The offered breakfast is healthy, but nothing fancy.... fruit, fruit juice, oatmeal, bread, fresh coffee from a local coffee shop.
We are already planning another stay.

We stayed at the Hideaway, which is the annex to the Orbit in, 100 yds down the street. To my mind it is nicer as it has more spacious pool area with grass, fire pit etc.

We really loved this place - truly a midcentury gem. Vast room with original 50's kitchenette and bathroom. It's terrific vale and breakfast (bagels, fresh fruit etc) is included in the rate as is a help yourself frdige of juices, sodas etc. And it's 3 minutes walk from the main drag. Fabulous mountain views too.

Would stay again next time without a moment's hesitation.

We arrived at the Orbit In on Saturday December 22nd with the idea of staying for 2 nights in the end we stayed for 5 nights and we enjoyed every one of them. The hotel is a little oasis two blocks from central Palm Springs - they provide cruiser bikes for you ride around on - after 25 years of not riding a bike (other than a static fitness bike) it was great to ride round the block a few times before the complimentary breakfast which is is very good quality. All the soft drinks (sodas) are free and you can make as much tea or coffee as you like - again complimentary. They have a orbitini hour in the afternoon around the bar - again providing free martinis and other drinks. The rooms are decorated in 50's kitsch style - ours was the Rat Pack Room - we even had a record player and access to lots of vinyl to while away the hours. So the ambience was terrific, the staff so helpful and as noted we stayed on for a few more days - we spent the last night in their sister hotel The Hideaway which is equally lovely and with larger grounds and swimming pool. Thank you for a lovely stay - you deserve the accolades.

Room Tip: They are all equally as nice...
