I had selected this motel after reading several reviews about the good ratio quality/price. Other travellers were right:
This is really a good deal in Palm Springs, and close to the main streets.
Rooms are clean, although small. Air conditionning not noisy.
But towels are a little bit old.
Staff quite friendly. Free coffee at the lobby as usual in Motel 6.
Nice large swimming pool, but some gravels in the water (take care to your feet, when walking).
At 59$ for 4 in Palm Springs, there is no better choice.
I will go back there when returning to Palm Springs.

Arrived at this property after pre booking on line. The guy behind the desk asked for ID so I showed him my airline security ID. He needed a licence. I told him that, to get this airline ID, I needed to go though more Police and FBI checks than he could imagine. "We MUST have a licence". So I went out to the car and got my licence. Had to ask him what would have happened if I didn't have a licence to which he replied "we would have accepted the airline ID"....go figure!!! Then I gave him my credit card for them to keep on file and asked if we could pay cash on departure. Quite simply he said "no, we need payment up front". Hmmm, first time a credit card on file hasn't been good enough. Got to the room and should have been wearing sunglasses to face the bed which had a colourful MOTEL 6 branded cover on it. Looked like someone had puked on it to be honest. Minutes later the scream of Police cars and we ran to the balcony in time to see them arresting a fellow guest for drug dealing. That night we were woken by a fight in the next room between the female guest and her "visitor" who apparently didn't want to pay her the $120 bucks. QUALITY!!! On our way to the lift a room around the corner had police tape around it and broken windows. It was a rough night. So, as for the rooms we are talking more basic than I expected with loud rattling air con. Maids never made up our room on day 2 despite ringing and asking for it. Totally understand it's a low cost property but heck it was a dump. Never, ever again.

“This Motel 6 will do in a fix”

Stayed at Motel 6 at 660 Palm Canyon Drive New Year's Eve because we made last minute plans to visit the area and all of the hotels we con tacted were full. Got "lucky" at this Motel 6, they had a cancellation. I typically avoid this chain due to bad experiences in the past, but this location is very close to nightlife and was clean. And while the hotel was full, it was relatively quiet. That's about the best you can say for this class of lodging. Paid $75 with tax.

You simply cannot beat this hotel for the money. $55 a night? In Palm Springs? In walking distance to all of old Palm Springs? And no parking fee? WOW!!! I have stayed at this hotel probably 5 or 6 times, when I needed a one night stay. This is the deal here.....throw out all of your stereotypes about a Motel 6. This place is VERY clean, VERY well taken care of, and RIGHT in the center of everything. In a 4 to 5 block walk you can be at any restaurant you want. For breakfast, go about 2 blocks to the Rock Garden. Really good, and cheap. Then explore old downtown Palm Springs. If you look at this as a place to sleep, this is perfect for you. Spend your money on other things other than laying around in the hotel room. So many great things to do in the desert....I recommend this hotel HIGHLY. Particularly those on a budget.

PROS: If you can handle a bit of a walk, it's just on the southern border (a few blocks) from the main shopping/restaurant district (about 20 min. walk/ 5 min. drive to the Spa Casino). This is especially important if you intend to indulge in some fancy desert libations or wine w/ a good dinner.
For this price, it's clean, and had a small, but well-tended pool area.
Staff was helpful and efficient.
Lots of free parking.
They allowed our small dog in the room for NO EXTRA CHARGE.

CONS: As you might expect, at this price, it's bare-bone amentities. No fridge, no coffee maker in the room (only at front desk), not even a clock. No shampoo, conditioner provided.
Towels and other linens were clean, but had clearly been through a lot of use (the blankets in particular felt, well, rough).
On short notice, my husband and I could only get a room with two double beds--queen beds were gone, hotel does not offer king beds. (However, if Lucy and Ricky Ricardo could manage--well, you get the picture.)
Some of our fellow travelers staying there were--how can I put this? I didn't feel comfortable riding alone in a elevator with some of them. But most of the hotel guests were fine, average folk.

BOTTOM LINE: A resort hotel will obviously give you a more complete and satisfying Palm Springs experience--but you've got to pay for that. Palm Spings is an expensive town.
If your visit celebrates a truly special occasion, by all means, spend the extra $$ and get into a resort.
But for those who must watch their spending very carefully, or who can handle scrimping on a place to bathe and sleep while spending those extra $$ on the city's great restaurants, shopping, gambling and site seeing, this place is a very good choice (around $60 a night for 2 people, weekend, high season)--especially if you travel with a pet.
