“A hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

SJ mountain is a great spot. If you have never been and you live in the area, it is a must see. If you take the tram, be very careful not to wander off too far and get lost. The SJ mountain is very big and can be a very unforgiving climate. The weather can change quickly, so always be prepared.

“Great fun on the mountain!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Goodness, its HOT, brown and dry in the valley...so take the tram up to the mountain! Its cooler, greener, educational and fun. While the trails are not too hard, the parking lot is steep. The sidewalk down the side of the mountain is steep and has a lot of twists and turns. So take sunscreen and wear good walking shoes! The gondola turn 360 degrees so everyone gets to view the mountain and the valley. This was a good afternoon adventure.

“Love it in any season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

I have hiked in the fall and the winter...you have a beautiful view any season you go. I love hiking in the snow and then wearing flip flops in the warmer months. This is a must-do when you visit Palm Springs.

“Revolving cable car & great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Mist shrouded San Jacinto Mountain until mid afternoon on the day we visited, so the cable car was not working until it lifted. It was wonderful to escape the extreme August heat. The views from the mountain-top over Palm Springs were breathtaking, along with the amazing rock formations and trees all around. The revolving large cable car was great. If you want to take photos as you go up and down, it is possible to do so through the small revolving window. There is a large cafe at the top, with seats inside and out.

“do not miss this trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

bad weather was forecast so we made sure we were on the first tram up, I do not have a had for hights so was a little nervous but there was nothing to worry about. The car park was almost empty and i think it was $18 dollars each to go up.There was guided commentary
and the window section rotates while the rest stays still you get some fantastic views on your way up and down.

As it was nearly 100 degrees on the desert floor we had taken a jacket to wear and needed it. it was about 5 degrees at 8,000ft up. There are a few hikes you can go on we took a relatively short one of 11/2 miles to the edge and as the weather was closing in and getting rather chilly made a move to go down. There is a restaurant and cafe there but we didn't use them it was starting to get very busy as we left at about 12 ish.
