we came to PS due to our interest in 50s architecture and design, and loved it. This motel was a great place to stay. I recommend it to anyone who likes MCM.

a few blocks from the main street but in a quiet area. original 50s has been sensitively updated. spotlessly clean. small rooms and close to the pool, but all good. wry, welcoming manager. cost about $150 per night including a small breakfast.

we will be back to PS, and to the Desert Hills.

Enjoyed our stay at the Desert Hills Resort this past March, it is a very well run and maintained resort that deserves its good reviews over the years. The area is wonderful and its access to Spencer's restaurant one block away is a plus. The only suggestions would be that: some of the furnishings require an update in terms of the overall decor, and each unit warrants a guest wall safe to store items such as passports, travel documents and the like...that would be a definite plus which most resorts now have incorporated. The pool and spa are lovely, the grounds are done to perfection...this is a first class establishment with the odd tweek here and there would bring it into the exceptional class for all to enjoy.

The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. We arrived in the area two hours early, so we called ahead to see if we could check in early. Jim (the manager) made sure our room was ready when we arrived. Overall, the room was clean with a full kitchen. The pool was steps from the room, and the sliding door made it easy to get in and out. Just a couple blocks from the shops and restaurants made the location convenient. The place caters to a more mature crowd, so we didn't worry about people being loud or obnoxious at the pool or at odd hours at night. It was so relaxing, we can't wait to got back!!

Recently spent three nights at the Desert Hills Hotel and found that its very positive TripAdvisor reviews are accurate. Clean, comfortable and quiet room with immediate access to pool and patio area. Short (3-4 block) walk to the Thursday night Village Fest and the many restaurants in the downtown area. The kitchenette was well equipped with fridge, stove, and microwave.

Every time we've stayed here it's been so nice. Lot's of lounge chairs by the pool, nice people, calm setting close to town. The rooms have full kitchens and nice bedding, very large. Two small beefs- not really any sort of breakfast, just coffee, juice, Costco yogurts and packaged pastries . Also be forewarned the gardeners arrive at 7 on Monday mornings and don't finish til almost noon and the trash trucks arrive at the same time- plan accordingly

I've stayed at the Desert Hills many times and I've always been pleased. You should know that it's not really a family hotel - I'm not sure they allow kids - and most of the guests are couples or singles in their 40's through 60's. This is the kind of place people return to year after year - because of the peaceful setting. You're only 4 blocks from the action on Palm Canyon - so the restaurants and shops are a short walk away. There is always room by the pool, because there aren't a lot of rooms at the hotel. Jim and Barbara - the two hosts who alternate coverage at the hotel are gracious and helpful. The only "downside" is the rather simple continental breakfast. I generally walk about two blocks and have breakfast at Spencer's. This is a restaurant very close by with with fantastic food and service. During the "high season" they now open for breakfast at 8 AM.

Room Tip: Most all of the rooms have a king bed and include a kitchen. There is also a one bedroom suite and...
