“Best Gay B&B to Stay in Warm Sands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2009

My partner and I chose to stay at Desert Eclipse after reviewing a number of other resorts in the Warm Sands Area. This was our second year in Palm Springs so we knew we wanted a closer location to Warm Sands. We were concerned since there were no reviews on Trip Adviser at the time we booked our reservation, but were impressed with photos on the resort's web site. We booked 9 nights after being impressed with the amenities, the location, the price and fantastic attention to detail.

When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by the on-site owners and the resort dog and shown around and brought to our room. The room was above our expectations and had everything you could possibly need, including a fully equipped kitchen. The mattress and bedding was high end and very comfortable. Our suite had a couch, king sized bed, a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, cooking utensils and a 2 seat bistro table.

All of the rooms surround the peaceful courtyard which is nicely landscaped and has plenty of chairs and loungers to relax with a good book. The pool was also a nice surprise, being a saltwater pool (fantastic) and the hot tub is only a few steps from most rooms.

Michael and Scott were great hosts and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Both me and my partner also took advantage of getting our haircut by Scott while we were there as well.

All in all, we had a memorable experience at Desert Eclipse and are looking forward to our next trip back.

Have you ever gone through the hotel reviews, wondering just how real they are? Read this one, and I'll tell you the truth.

My partner and I visited Palm Springs this weekend to do a little work and maybe to get some relaxation in as well. Being from LA and usually doing quick weekend getaways, we have visited quite a few resorts over the years and have located some great choices. Our search usually leads us to the smaller resorts that are clean, quiet and friendly. We enjoy a place that welcomes couples and singles alike. Well, we just found our place in the Sun!

Desert Eclipse Resort is hardly tucked away in the Warm Sands area, yet you might miss it if you had no idea it was there. We certainly didn't, probably because it is so new. And, both of the owners, Michael and Scott, are like your best friends you left at home!

Everything in this resort is new, and I don't mean cheap-new either. The high quality furniture and bedding are not to be matched in the Warm Sands area, believe me. The mattress alone has to be 16-20 inches thick of pure heaven and the white sheets are so comfortable you won't want to get out of bed. The attention to rich detail in the kitchen cabinets and appliances was very surprising. The floors are a quality tile and so clean.

Even though the new air conditoning unit is near the bed and above you out of the way, it is so quiet you hardly know it's there. A remote for the unit allows you to stay in bed and adjust the temperature and air flow after you've settled in. This is not a window unit or a cheap built in, but a quality product you might see in a fine European hotel.

Look at the pictures on their website and you will see some of the detail that went into the complete renovation on this place. The pool area is spotless and the water in the jacuzzi and pool is clean as you could expect. The landscaping is exceptionally tasteful, with desert plants and flowers where ever you look. And, the hummingbirds love it too.

I can't think of anything we didn't like, except for maybe that we had to leave so soon. We'll be back Michael and Scott, we don't need to look any further for anything better!

My partner and I first stayed at the Desert Eclipse Resort shortly after they officially opened after having done a complete renovation on the property. We had stayed there when it was run by the previous owners back in 2006 (when it was called "The Columns") and it was less than desirable. Now, the entire place has been completely transformed into a high-end luxurious retreat! All of the finishes are gorgeous right down to the Italian linens on the amazingly comfortable beds, which put the Westin Hotel chain's "Heavenly Beds" to shame. The only down side is you'll want to stay in bed all day!

Our room had a fantastic kitchen with new cherry cabinets, granite countertops, stainless and black appliances (including a gas range/oven, a microwave, a refrigerator and sink), a bistro table with two chairs. A sofa and ottoman create a cozy seating area before you came to the king-size bed, an i-Home stereo for your iPod, a 32" LCD flat-screen TV, a DVD player and a gorgeous tiled bathroom. It also had a private back patio with a doggie area for our dog. (Yes, they have pet-friendly rooms! THANK YOU!) Our room, as well as all the others, looked onto the gorgeous landscaped courtyard and pool area. It is beautiful during the day, but at night, it is absolutely stunning.

Now, we were a little nervous about the "clothing-optional" nature of the resort, mostly because it's been our experience that most of the people who take advantage of such policies are usually the ones you would prefer didn't! We were VERY pleased to find that most of the guests we observed that chose to get naked also chose to wear the white cotton waffle robes (the likes of which you'd expect at an expensive spa) to walk around and only disrobed to lay in the sun or swim, or sit in the hot tub. It was not in-your-face at all (so to speak!)

I'm sure I've missed some of the great features of this place (fountains, lighting, etc.) but I can honestly say there wasn't really anything I would change. And the owners, Scott and Michael, are amazing hosts. They are attentive, friendly, and make you feel like you are part of their family. They make this already wonderful resort even better. Scott also has a Hair Studio on site offering professional men's hair care services. My partner got a fantstic haircut the first time we went there and we've both had cuts there during subsequent visits. We've been there about seven times in the past year, most recently in March '09, and every time have the same experience. It's fabulous.

If you want a great gay men's resort in Palm Springs close to everything in the Warm Sands area, I can't recommend this place highly enough.
