My wife and I stayed at the Del Marcos Hotel for two nights as part of a honeymoon roadtrip in March 2013. The Hotel was everything that we were led to believe that it would be from reviews and its website.
We stayed in the Julius Shulman room, a large room on the first floor (second floor USA) overlooking the pool. The room was immaculate, bright, clean, tidy and comfortable. The hotel makes a point of telling guests to respect other guests and I am sure that contributed to the peace and quiet in the hotel. There is a very grown-up feel to the place, which we were grateful for (we heard the staff very politely dissuading spring-breakers from booking a room and trying somewhere more to their liking!).
The hotel is excellently located in downtown with easy access to bars, restaurants and the local sights. The hotel also provides free bikes to cruise around the town on which we took advantage of.
A very nice continental breakfast is offered in the reception area, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, muffins, herbal teas, coffee etc.
The whole vibe of the place is retro 50's which is all done very classily. The Manageress Laura was never far away and was always friendly and helpful. I'm sure she was responsible for the bottle of bubbly that awaited us upon our arrival!
