We're buying land in Desert Hot Springs so we wanted an inexpensive place to stay for a few days, something around $100 a night or less. The Quality Inn looked like it would meet the bill.
I didn't expect it to be a luxury place...on that grounds, I wasn't disappointed. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed just handling three travelers checking in, the windows were flimsy, the bathrooms a bit run down, and the furniture cheap. Also, it's hard to park near the stairs to the second floor so lugging up your luggage isn't the most convenient thing. But the TV worked, the free wireless internet was great to have, the pool area was nice enough, and it's in a convenient part of Palm Springs with lovely views of the mountains (like most places in February, it's hard to go wrong just being in the desert listening to the morning birds.)
They give you a 10% discount on the Carrows next door, but skip Carrows - which if you ask me is about three notches below Applebees - and drive down Palm Canyon to the Rock Garden Cafe - much much better place for breakfast with an outdoor garden cafe and prices not much different.
On the whole I wish we could have found a nicer place for the money, but so far, I haven't found one in Palm Springs in the high season. I'll probably try some other bargain place when I'm in town again. The best I could say about this place was that we didn't get robbed (though I didn't trust leaving any cameras etc. in the room) and the free internet was the best thing going.
