“Impeccable Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

We recently stayed at the Hotel California in Palm Springs. It was the best service I have ever received from any hotel.

Pre-Arrival

Unfortunately, we arrived at the hotel a day later than expected due to flight delays. We emailed the hotel and they responded very promptly asking if we would like a limo ride from the airport when we did arrive. We were immediately impressed, before we even arrived in Palm Springs! However, we did not take the hotel's offer as we already had plans for someone to pick us up.

Check-In

Check-In was a breeze. We walked right into the hotel, was shown our room, and then received a tour of the property.

The Hotel

This hotel is stunning. I believe it only has 11 or 12 rooms, making it very quiet and peaceful. The grounds are very lush and well maintained. There is a great communal kitchen with free fruit and a den area with movies available for borrow. There is also a courtyard with fountains, seating areas, and a fire pit. The pool is small, yet very beautiful and clean, with plenty of loungers and misters to keep cool in the Palm Springs heat. I have never felt so "at home" before while staying in a hotel.

Room

Our room was clean and spacious. Do not expect luxurious and fancy rooms, as they are more cottage style. This being said, they are decorated extremely well and are very vibrant. The beds were extremely comfortable.

Staff

The staff at this hotel are honestly some of the warmest people I have ever met in my life, period. We became friends with everyone. They are constantly smiling and willing to help in any way possible, yet they are not overly pushy. One morning they even brought a box of donuts for all the guests! I can see why TripAdvisor has rated this hotel #1 in service in the United States.

Overall

We had an incredible time at this hotel. Don't expect luxury; rather except a small, cozy hotel with jaw-dropping service.

Happy Travels!

This was our first trip to Palm Springs and we were excited about staying in a small boutique hotel. We were able to secure a reservation after a last minute cancellation and were greeted by Lucy when we arrived. She showed us around the property including the community kitchen, library room with books and dvds, the pool and spa area all in a beatiful setting. Our casita was very well appointed and absolutely spotless. Each morning there was fruit and coffee in the kitchen and our every question or request was attended to. Jay drove us to town in their limo and picked us up later that night. What a way to go! The owners treated us like family, only better. We would stay there again. I don't think we have ever stayed in a nicer, more freindly place.

We spent five wonderful days here, and can't wait to return. It was everything we had read about before coming, and more! Free: snacks, coffee, fresh fruit, newspapers, pop, beer, l/d phone calls. Such a charming and welcoming establishment!

We travel to the Palm Springs area annually. Always trying to stay at owner run establishments. This location will have our business in coming years. The rooms are large, well kept and display thoughtful touches. The management is warm, welcoming and extremely accommodating. The grounds are cozy, well maintained and inviting. The evening limo is a hoot! Since this hotel is a 'classic' hotel - air conditioning wall units can be loud.
We especially appreciated the thoughtful qualities demonstrated by the staff. The dinner recommendation was excellent. Being remembered by name - something that would have happened in the early days of Palm Springs. Lucy and Jay were delightful.

Room Tip: We were upstairs and will request a downstairs room for our next stay.

We tried this place after reading the reviews on here and were not disappointed. We were able to check in a bit early thanks to Jay at the desk. There is a lovely shady courtyard but still loads of sun to be had. Hummingbirds buzz about the courtyard on the feeders which was great. There are comfy sofas outside to sit in the shade, an awesome kitchen and cooking facilities. Would be good for a longer stay than 1 night as you could get cooking on the grills provided and really settle in. Pool small but nice and the water misters are awesome! Free phone calls to anywhere very useful and adds more value. There is also a guest lounge with chess table and tv, sofas etc. Can't wait to book another trip soon! Oh and Micheal was very helpful and friendly too on the morning of check out. Such a charming guy!

This hotel might be small but it is not lacking in any area, definitely somewhere I'd stay again. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The grounds are very well maintained. The location is not far from the main area and they had bikes for you to ride which we loved, as well as a limo if needed. The room was clean and water and snacks were provided at no charge. There was a community kitchen area to cook, full of everything you'd need as well as fresh fruit.
Thanks to Larry, Lucy & Jay for making me feel at home, we had a wonderful stay!

Amenities galore, in the room and around the lush tropical facility. The hotel is quiet and private. There is a very friendly and accommodating staff that gave great recommendations for local dining and activities. Other than the cost of the room + tax, there are no other fees. There were bicycles to ride, except it was too hot when we were there. But how cool is that. We should have taken the free limo when dining out. Oh well, next time. This a definitely a hotel you will want to come back to.

Room Tip: We stayed in the 2 story townhouse. It had a full kitchen downstairs and a minibar/fridge upstairs...
