“A little heaven on earth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We stayed for 5 nights - and the place is just great!

Build like a small old Mexican town - with all modern facilities.

Use the spa and, take a swim among the palms while looking at hummingbirds - or soak in the sun in peace and quietness.

The rooms are well kept and cozy.

Ray and his beloved limo and everybody else working at the places are doing their utmost to make you feel special and comfortable.

We will definitely be back some day.

These are the same owners of The Desert Riviera nearby that we have been going to for our dose of sun every year, and they have done an excellent job of developing this hotel into just as fantastic an experience. I agree with another reviewer who called it a "hideaway," a nice shaded spot under tall palm trees with a very cool center courtyard and pool. Very comfy and homey. Old saltillo tile floors and courtyard. Nice and airy within the courtyard for a cool escape from the blazing sun but still with some sun exposure on the north side of the courtyard when you want it.

Room Tip: Upper floor has a more private courtyard

We stayed four nights over Thanksgiving weekend and the service began the moment I made my reservation. They emailed restaurant choices at various prices, things to do and places to visit and our room was ready the moment we arrived, even though we were an hour early. This is a small property with a lovely tropical feel, but if you're looking for a larger pool, in full sun, you might be happier at their "sister" property, Desert Riveria. It's a short walk down the street. The rooms are cozy, very clean, and include little touches to make you feel pampered. Larry, Patti, Lucy and Jay really go overboard to please their guests and we'd definitely return to the Hotel California.

This place was beyond great. Really take the time to enjoy the property for what it is. Use the kitchen, use the limo, and conversate with Jay. I work at a huge, world class hotel, and I prefer a small place like this everyday of the week. No, they don't have a gym, but their customer service is so great they would probably take you to a gym in a limo and pay for your day pass. The rooms aren't incredible, but I couldn't think of anything more comfortable. My friends and I will be back within the year if possible, and I miss it already.

My wife and I spent 6 lovely nights at the Hotel California. The hotel is a small, intimate and friendly family run business. It has about 12 rooms, built around the swimming pool, in a Spanish Courtyard setting.

The rooms are warm and inviting, very clean and well presented. Lots of little extras come as standard eg coffee on tap 24hrs a day; free internet access; free bike hire; free snack basket in your room; free candy/ fruit etc.

Would certainly stay here again if in the area.

An all over 5 star rating.

You drive along the Palm Canyon Drive wondering about the many so gray and boring hotels along then You arrive at a beautiful motel realizing: "Oh, great.. Hotel California...".
You have done everything right; You made the right choice!
You get a friendly welcome.
You are walking around getting everything explained wondering how picturesque and beautiful the place looks like; like a painted picture.
You walk into the room with kitchen and table with two chairs and feel home.
We booked the Town House (It's secret; You read this but don't speak about it!)

For us the stay in Palm Springs was like additional vacation in the trip to USA.

At the end, You know they really care about their jewel in the desert!

Tipp: Next to the hotel You have "Elmer's". Friendly and delicious.
At Ralph's in the neighborhood You get off of the prices with the hotel room key.
You need a smart way to go downtown? Use hotels own limousine (it's not only luxury but funny, too)
Don't miss the tramway, the living desert and Palm Canyon.
