This hotel is centrally located and steps away from many restaurants and shops along N Palm Canyon Drive. The rooms are large and spacious. We stayed in a lovely room looking at the pool and the mountains. There were 3 balconies, a living area and a dining area. The shower had full body jets which really steamed up the place! Service is excellent. It is an older hotel which has been updated and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: All rooms are suites.

The service at this hotel was excellent. We were on the 6th floor with a very good view of the golf courseand mountians from the rear and the main street and more from the front. If you stay in Palm Springs you must ride the Tramway you will have a view of the whole city and more well worth the price.

We stayed at this hotel over Thanksgiving. I read somewhere that the cabana suites were good for kids. We had a 10 month old with us. Convenient location. The room was nice. The staff was great. We ate at the buffet in the hotel lobby for lunch. It was awesome -- food was excellent as was the service. The cabana room was great for going to the pool. Pool was a little small but it wasn't too crowded. There's a great hiking trail behind the hotel. It's a bit strenuous, though. My only criticism was that there is a bar right outside the cabana rooms. They have karaoke on the weekends until 10, which is not that late, but if you have kids, it may be a bit loud.

This property underwent pretty extensive refurbishment a few years ago, thankfully - in its prior incarnation this place was an armpit. The remodel has turned it into something passable and represents fairly good value since the rooms are all suites.

They do seem to have some staffing challenges, though. The two times I have stayed here I witnessed and experienced very lengthy waits at the front desk for check-in/check-out, extended waits past check-in time for rooms to be cleaned and ready and forgotten requests for things like an extra pillow or extra towels. Sometimes it's the little things that get you and I do feel this property sort of falls short on that front.

That said, the rooms are pretty nice and the beds are comfortable. They have a decent if cold pool, good meals in the restaurants and outstanding location. Some folks may not like the downtown location as it does tend to have more noise (particularly rooms along Palm Canyon, vs. those in the back facing the mountain). It does not have the "resort" vibe so much as some other properties in town; it really just feels like a hotel in any other market.

I don't go out of my way to stay here really, but I do like it enough that when the price is right I will certainly give them my business. I wish they did try just a bit harder but with a place of this size, it's probably expecting too much. Go with that expectation and you'll not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the mountain to avoid the Palm Canyon noise

We recently spent three nights at this hotel which was full of surprises -- but not all of which were good. Because we often stay at Hyatt hotels, we were expecting the usual "Hyatt standard of quality". However, this hotel in failed to deliver in several ways. Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly by the front desk staff and given our room keycard. While on our way to our room we noticed the hallway carpet looked worn and in many places dirty, and that even late in the day room service items still remained on the floor outside the door of a service area. Upon entering our room, we noticed that it was only marginally cleaned, if at all, from the last guests -- toothpaste drops left on the counter, carpets which clearly had not been vacuumed, pill wrappers on the bathroom floor, etc. We went back down to the front desk and requested another room -- something we have never done before at any hotel. After sincere apologies, we were given an ungraded suite which was very nice. Thinking the housecleaning issues we encountered with our first room were a fluke, we were unhappily surprised when we found a bandage wrapper in the bathroom sink of our room. Then the second day there, we found the coffee filter we used left on a piece of furniture after housekeeping was done. In short, the housekeeping at this hotel is unsatisfactory. Something which struck us funny, however, was that on our return to the room the second day, we found that no coffee was left in the room for us to make coffee the next morning. Upon contacting the front desk, we were told the hotel did not have any remaining coffee and that it was expected to arrive the next day. One would think this hotel was in Siberia, not 50 miles from Los Angeles. On a positive note, all of the staff we encountered at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful, and the pool area was excellent. Would we stay here again? Perhaps, simply because of the staff, good location and pool area. But we have never encountered such sloppy housekeeping at any major brand hotel we have ever been too. When compared, for example, to the San Francisco Grand Hyatt and Portland Hyatt, bot of which we stayed at in December -- this hotel simply was not in the same league.

I'm a big fan of Hyatt, stayed in them forever. This is an all suites hotel, outdated even after renovation so they say. The pool area is hip and so is the lobby bar. They seem to have put an additional bar with music on Palm Canyon, could be fun.

The hotel front desk staff is caring and friendly.

The Location is fantastic, make no mistake, the problems...

There is a daily resort fee, this aggravates me to no end, just bump the room rate up by 25.00 and leave it alone. It's like an airline adding fees. This is not a resort by any stretch of the imagination anyway so don't call it a resort fee.

The added charge to guests of the hotel for self park, just another fee. You want valet fine pay for it but self park....

18% plus a delivery fee to the room, ( really ).

Breakfast in the lobby, Slop.. Dirty plates, greasy food, no semblance of order. Sort of help yourself to the donut tray, and everything else. Find a seat, ask for silverware wait for silverware. This is not the Hyatt service and cleanliness I expect and am used to, this is NOT TRENDY.

The room was just so so.
