“Very Romantic and Lush Grounds with Fountains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2011

Clusters of rooms around two pools; many niches with fountains, flowers, ponds, statuary. Lots of palm trees, flowering vines, original architectural details. Very quiet at night, we left our patio door open. Stayed in Room 105 which was great - secluded entry near the larger pool with a sitting room, fireplace, wet bar, patio, and through a gate and garden to a large hot tub. Came back from a long hike to enjoy a poolside cocktail and swim, couldn't be better! For a larger party, I recommend renting rooms around the north pool which was secluded from the rest of the property - it would feel like your own place and that would be fun!

Tucked away from the main stream cookie cutter establishments is a little piece of Europe called The Villa Royale Inn.
What a wonderful suprise, like a newly found unopened present.
Our stay there had that old world feeling and grace. Quaint, is the word, mixed with unspoken elegance.
At night it's a fairy land for adults and the daytime, by the pool speaks of time gone by.
Its not the same Hotel experience or look or feeling as others here and should not be compared to them in the same fashion.
This is the real, the true feeling of the old world, from the archeticture to the warm friendly people who make sure your stay is the finest, to the great food in the Europia Restaurant.
If you want anything more authentic--better buy a plane ticket.
Thank you to the management and the friendly staff who made our stay there the best time ever !!!

Staying as I write this. Charming boutique inn where the guests and staff interact with each other and very engaging. Restaurant and service were outstanding. Looking forward to returning many times in the future. Recommend it highly for a quiet get away for the week end or longer.

First room was small and shabby; noisy A/C high in wall almost out of reach. Needed re-furbishing. Second, more expensive suite, which we took, was better, but the furnishings were old and uncoordinated. Blinds didn't work well and were hard to close to keep light out.
Cooked and served breakfast provided in lovely patio but with little choice. In fact last day we chose to skip it and eat in town on our own. Front desk staff was very helpful regarding local sites.

On site restaurant, Europa was an expensive disappointment, starting with reservations. We were told they were all booked for 7:30--we would have to wait till 8. We arrived at 7:30 anyway and found the place half empty. We were still seated at a small, table near a large party and in a busy server aisle. Extensive wine list but only 2 lite beers and one other. Fawning service--we must have been asked 10 times whether we liked our meals, even before we were served. Very ordinary steak and mashed potatoes. Desert tart was long time coming and soggy--waiter took it off the bill. Lovely rooms, even if gaudy.

We made the mistake of going for one of the hideaway rooms which are the cheapest. We expected our room to be small (it was tiny) but the major problem was the generator (or pump) outside it which was on 24 hours. Despite its size, the room was beautifully furnished and very individual. The food in the restaurant was good but quite expensive and we took advantage of the pre 6.30pm (if I remember rightly) cheaper option. The staff were excellent and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again but in one of the larger rooms.

This place was great. Good service, good food, good location, nice rooms.

It's in the foot of the mountains so the views are great. Also, there are heated pools open 24 hours. Best thing...The Europa restaurant is on the grounds and their food is pretty amazing. Try the Baked Apple desert, but it sells out fast.

Discovered this hidden gem while looking for a perfect romantic getaway for a family member! Visited 8 other boutique hotels in Palm Springs and found nothing compared to Villa Royale! Was hesitant to write this review as I like to keep this all to myself, but it was so amazing I felt I had to tell others. This is Old world charm, with lots of brick work, potted plants, lush landscaping, fountains, 2 pools, jacuzzi and a fantastic restaurant! It had a cozy feel, like it was our own private Villa ! We got a suite with a fireplace and a private like courtyard. It was so quiet that I could catch an afternoon nap undisturbed. Afternoon tea and breakfast was served by the pool which we loved! The pool is large enough for laps and was the perfect temperature. Dinner at the restaurant was so good that we ate all our meals at the hotel. Staff was amazing, Jack, Troy Thank You!! Looks like lots of improvements are been made to landscaping rooms etc. This amazing hotel just keeps getting better. We will be back!!
