“What a dump”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

When we checked in there was 1 person at the desk and 3 groups of guests waiting. Another clerk emerged from the back chewing food and said "I'm not working I'm on a break". This was our introduction. We had requested a quiet room & extra pillows ( in writing on our reservation AND 1 week before we arrived via phone ) neither was honored. After 3 requests we got the pillows. Our room was overlooking the pool which was definitely NOT quiet. The front desk clerk did not tell us about the free wifi so we paid for it which was later reimbursed.

Many items in the room were not satisfactory such as a light not working, broken drawer, broken clock (not only broken but alarm was set at 5 AM) ,lamp shade torn. There was a , chemical smell in the room. Additionally there was no soap holder, discoloration in grout in bath, black soot outside HVAC vent. The box spring mattress (2 with a king size mattress on top) were not even so 1 was sticking out at the bottom and the bed skirt was covering it. If you walked close you could have tripped over the protruding box spring. None of these issues alone was a big deal but all of them together showed lack of management supervision of the rooms.

We tried 6 times to speak with the manager and finally the day before we left we met with the front desk mgr who saw the problems personally. She agreed that these all were legitimate problems and offered to credit us for 1 nights stay.

We wished we hadn't prepaid for this hotel because we would have checked out and gone elsewhere.

When you look at the grounds and the issues with our room you can see this hotel clearly has deferred maintenance and lack of management.

Room Tip: Request 3rd floor for a more quiet room but not overlooking the pool which is in use from 7:30 AM to...

Good Morning,

I want to apologize for any inconveniences you experieced during your stay with us and the lack of service you experienced. All of our management team has reviewed your comments and have taken care of all of the items you have specified. We are also doing some retraining of our staff. Our property is scheduled for renovation later this year and the guestrooms are included in the renovation. Again, I apologize and hope you have a great day.

My two sisters and I shared a suite which included two double beds and a sleeper in the living room. Full breakfast with omelets cooked to order every morning and a happy hour in the evening. Transportation to the matches free every day across the street. Could not ask for anything more convenient. Bar and restaurants within walking distance. Courts behind the hotel for our use.
Great, friendly helpful staff.
Very minor complaints. Noisy. Second floor could hear people walking above us but only occasionally. Happy hour wines and food could be improved but, hey, it's free!
And yes, rooms could probably be painted because they do have that older room smell. But we will go back.

Room Tip: We were near pool and noise not a problem so prob top floor may be better for noise above.

Need to update carpeting to drapes and furniture. Hotel staff were pleasant. Hotel lobby and pool area was very nice and suited the theme of the hotel and Palm Desert area. Only stayed one night for business and did not have a choice of hotels for this trip. Hopefully, I will not be booked to stay here again.

Staff is great and they keep up the property as well as can be expected. Breakfast did not disappoint, but we did not get a chance to attend the Manager's reception. Smell of room was just like a Holiday Inn in the 1960's when I was a child. Exactly like that, and something that I have not smelled in decades. Buildings and furnishing need updating.

Gorgeous hotel, near Tennis Tournament in Indian Wells. Breakfast included, fabulous room, shuttle to and from Tournament, so no car needed. Could come back to hotel for swim, hot tub, rest between matches. Full amenities, great atmosphere, fabulous weather! And great tennis matches! Could not ask for more!

While the facilities could use some updating, the location is astonishingly quiet and provides about the easiest access possible to Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta and the Santa Rosa-San Jacinto Mts National Monument.

A great value for an older, but well maintained property. The partnership with the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament is terrific. Package includes transportation to/from venue; breakfast; cocktail hour; and use of 6 tennis courts. For tennis players a great experience.
