“Needs a facelift but otherwise a good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

The interior courtyard and pool are lovely. To have a full breakfast each morning and nibbles and drinks included in the price is very nice. Folks that work there are great. At some point I imagine they will get nicer armoires and get the popcorn off the ceiling. The bathroom was tight and the fan made some noise when it cycled on an off. However, we heard very little other noise which makes for great sleep and energy to explore the nearby El Paseo shops and galleries.

Room Tip: Upstairs away from the road is a good choice. From either the east of west side you can see palm tr...

“Dated, dirty and dismal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Not sure how this is an Embassy Suites. Drove up to this hotel and immediately regretted booking it. Windows look like they are prison like from the outside and you enter thru a big iron gate. Rooms are dated and on the ground floor dark and dinghy. Bathrooms have been updated but are tiny. Breakfast was a scrum, you have to go outside to another room to order anything hot and then go back into the dining room. Had booked 5 nights for a conference but left after the first night.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are dark so ask for something higher.

Truett P, General Manager at Embassy Suites Hotel Palm Desert Resort, responded to this review
March 8, 2013
Dear luischable,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us feedback about your recent stay at the Embassy Suites Palm Desert. We use this feedback to continuously make improvements to our service and property.

I am very sorry that this property did not meet your expectations. This Embassy Suites originally opened as the "Granada Royale" and is not your typical Embassy Suites atrium structured property. Many of our patrons enjoy the nicely landscaped open courtyard with fountains and large pool.

I'm glad you enjoyed the updated bathrooms. It is our plan to continue the upgrades throughout the rest of the property in the near future. This will include a more inclusive breakfast area as well.

Again, thank you for your feedback. We hope that you will visit us in the future to see our new improvements.

Sincerely,

Truett Pool
General Manager.

“Tired Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon, having booked the room using our Hilton Honors points, and were delighted to find that we could check in early. Our room was relatively clean but old, tired and worn. Draperies were stained and carpets were dingy. We noticed when we walked in that there was a note on the laundry room door indicating that both washers were out of order and that a repairman had been called. When we left on Thursday, the washers were still out of order. Although there were both a microwave and a refrigerator, there were no utensils or dishes. The age of the hotel showed. Water running through piping for the toilets, showers, or sinks could be loudly and distinctly heard. Noise from the room above and from the corridor outside were equally loud. Additionally, both nights of our stay the fire alarm rang with strobe lights flashing in our room--11:30 p.m. the first night and 9:30 p.m. the second. When we called the desk to confirm that there was no fire both nights, we were told everything was ok but no apology nor explanation was given. Having been in two hotels that did, indeed, have fires (and from one of which I was evacuated) fire alarms are a concern. We learned on asking at check-out that burned popcorn was the reason on the second night. No reason was given for the first night.
Also, the maid arrived at around 4:00 p.m. to clean our room. The one redeeming feature of the hotel was the cooked-to-order breakfast which was very good, along with the usual assortment of pastries, breads, fruits and juices. The hotel is convenient to El Paseo and other attractions. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Very nice accomodations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

This is a nicely arranged hotel. We had a front room area with a TV and bedroom (also with a TV). The rooms had a door separating them so when it was closed you heard very little from the front atrium area of the hotel. This was a good feature because, (although we were on the third floor) there was some significant noise from party people around the pool and especially the hot tub until 10 pm at night. We heard very little noise from the road, which is a main highway so this was good. They have a managers reception daily at 5-7 pm and this was great with drinks and snacks. Breakfast was included in our purchase and the food was basic but good and a great way to start the day before heading out to golf and sight see. I would definitely recommend this hotel for golfers during golf season but I do not know how it is during the summer when there are potentially loud party's going on.

Room Tip: Full breakfast included.
