This was booked as a late holiday without too much review. To start I would say that nine days of the 10 we spent there were fantastic, but the first 24hrs not so great. We stayed in Jasmine Court.
We have stayed in Palm Springs many times but always within a golf resort and the 'self-catering' option was new to us. We had originally booked a standard double room. Opening the door to the room was very disappointing. All rooms and villas have adjoining doors so if you are a light sleeper with noisy neighbours, forget it. The fridge and sink are about two feet away from the bed and so when the fridge activated if you were on that side of the bed it felt like it was buzzing directly into your ear.
In the morning we went to reception and found the only option was to upgrade to a one bedroom villa as this meant the fridge and adjoing door would be in a different room. However this was not a simple step. They would first have to cancel our holiday reservation and then set up a new reservation in our name, they couldn't simply upgrade us, even though we were paying for it. Luckily our travel agency (Virgin) were fantastic. It took nearly all day as Marriotts system was not geared up to do upgrades. It took Virgin Management to speak to Marriott Vacations management to sort out between them.
Eventually late that day we got the Villa, and from then on the holiday was fantastic. Great room, great food, good facilities, and of course some great golf.. The moral is, to have a great holiday book at least a villa, and book it from the start.
