“Big Dissapointment!”

Marriott's Desert Springs Villas II

So, we traded in our Marriott timeshare at Newport Beach (a huge and beautiful 2 bedroom/2 bathroom villa) through Interval International and got stuck with a tiny studio. The description on the marriot grand vacations website described the room as beautiful and stocked with kitchen, laundry, etc.

First and foremost, it said it would accomodate 4 people. What an awkward situation when we had one couple sleeping on the bed and another couple sleeping on the sofa bed LESS THAN A FOOT AWAY! With the sofa bed pulled out, the only space was in the bathroom! It was terribly tiny. The "kitchen" is a counter flanking the bed with a microwave and a mini fridge. Housekeeping comes only once during your stay. As well, we didn't have a coffee maker, we had to call twice! As well, they gave us decaffinated, so we called for regular coffee. Housekeeping brought two bags of decaffinated, again we called and they repeated the same mistake.

I have to major issues with my entire experience. Interval International is terrible in terms of communication. They send us an email to confirm our reservations to tell us what kind of room we acutally get, but by this time it is too late (according to their policy) to make any changes!

Marriot is in charge of managing the villas, but they are failing miserably.

I suggest this place only if you plan on using your room only to Sleep! other than that, there is little space to do anything else comfortably. Prices are outrageous for the outdated decor and furniture.

My husband and I exchanged a timeshare and stayed here for a week. The check in resort is fabulous - when they led us to our villa down the road, we were nervous. Resembled an apartment complex - but we were pleasantly surprised when we got to the condo! It was outstanding! The rooms are very nice and clean and spacious - our villa was on the golf course and the view was beautiful. The kitchen is very well equipped and we had a fabulous, relaxing vacation! We hated to leave the room! We booked a "Just You and I" Swedish massage for two at the spa and it was HEAVEN!! This is a great place to stay and we plan to return!!

“Beautiful...”

Marriott's Desert Springs Villas II

Jun 16, 2008

I was staying wth some family in LA and we went to Palm Desert for 2 nights. First of all, i have never been to a desert, or seen a desert (except for tv!) in my life, all i can say is WOW! The scenery is amazing, and the temperature was great! So we got to the Villas and our room wasnt quite ready (we were early), but it was no problem as we just relaxed by the pool for an hour or so! Once we got to our room I was so pleased with how clean they were, and very spacious. The short holiday was basically to just relax and do nothing, so thats what I did...and got a tan!

We booked at the Desert Springs Villas II through Interval as an exchange on our resort in Mesquite, NV. Our unit was a 2nd story, 2 br lock-off on the 12th fairway of the golf course. It was great to sit on the balcony in the morning, but it faced towards the west, so sun was plentiful. However, it was very pleasant around 7 pm. The other rooms were clean, and roomy. There are other pictures of the rooms on this site, so I won't post mine. My husband played golf twice, and took advantage of a clinic, and came away with some things to work on. They gave a discount when he booked the activities to our room. We went to the COD artfest and came away with a beautiful painting for over our sofa. We missed the Firefighter's Fish Fry - it was advertised as being on Jun 3, however, it is on the first Saturday of the month. Bummer. And on Thursday night, we went to Cathedral City to the Street fair - some interesting finds. I didn't think we would enjoy the Palmeros Pool, simply because we wanted some peace, but were pleasantly surprised. There are several pools in which the children can play, and my husband LOVED the slush machine at the cantina. Whatever beverage you want made into a slush (he opted for B-52's), they can make it. If you love rum, you have to try the Summer Hummer. But stir it up before you take a sip! We used the exercise room and it will work for just about anyone - they have 3 or 4 treadmills, 2 eliptical machines, and 3 recumbant bicyles. Their equipment is Life Fitness, and they have a machine for every major body part. Also, a set of dumbbells, and a bench. It is located behind the lobby where you check in (get a glass of their cold fruit infused water on your way to the gym). The gym is busy in the morning, but when we went around 1:30 in the afternoon, it was pretty empty.

All in all, we had a great time - just perfect for what we were looking for.

“Great but chilly vacation”

Marriott's Desert Springs Villas II

May 26, 2008

My Husband and I arrived @ the Villa II on Sunday at around 1:30pm and were able to get into our room right away. While this is the not the first choice of room ( we requested building 619 because of view) we recieved room 2417 building 764 pool view. At first I was dissapointed b/c I had wanted mountain view....but being by the pool had great advantages. So we opted to stay put. We had a 2 bedroom that was very clean and quiet. We never heard other guests except during the day at the pool. Our room had everything in it you could possibly need. This building was updated and nice. We were disappointed to see that there wasn't a cieling fan in any of the rooms since it is so warm there. So we bought a cheap fan from Target....which was a life saver! The pools were great fun and very family friendly. They played 70-80's music all day ( which I loved). We had requested foam pillows and recieved them right away as well as more towels. We also had a small problem with the air conditioner which had been turned off b/c the patio door had not been shut all of the way. According to staff there it is a energy saver feature that disables the AC when any door is open so it gets real hot real quick!. Unfortunetly our trip got a real cooling off r/t to the cool front that came through...The locals said they have never seen anything like this in 35 years! It was so chilly I thought I would freeze!! It finally warmed up on our last day there but the pool water was still pretty chilly b/c of the cool temps at night. Overall, I loved the villa's II...I was please that I stayed there...they looked nicer than villa's l but as others have mentioned you are not allowed to go to the JW.....we did not miss a thing and had a great time at Villa's ll. I would like to check out Shadow Ridge....but that will be another time. I would definetly stay here again.
