“Friendly resort, staff is top notch!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

Just finishing my 7 night stay here, sharing a room with a friend attending a large, popular conference. Especially by day, the resort was practically deserted since most guests were participating in the conference, so I felt like I had the place to myself.

We asked for a quiet room and were given a nice room overlooking a lagoon populated with black and white swans, ducks, and geese, all very amusing to watch throughout the day from the balcony. The room was in great condition, with a nice size bathroom with granite finishes. The housekeeping staff were extraordinary. No complaints whatsoever with the room.

The restaurants and the gift/sundries shop were pretty expensive. I enjoyed the Fisherman's Landing restaurant, but I think the Rockwood Grill needs to train their staff a little better in customer service. The good news, for those of you willing to drive across the street, there is a large and very well stocked grocery store where you can pick up a fresh salad bar and hot foods, which is what I did a lot here. They also have a well priced selection of wine and liquor.

In summary, I recommend this hotel for individuals or families looking for an upscale desert resort. The staff are all SO nice.

“Above expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Recent three night stay covered room, golf and dinners all were excellent and above expectations. Since our last stay they have remodelled all facilities, rooms are excellent modern, comfortable and very well appointed.
Staff was great from front desk, golf shop and restaurants could not have been nicer.

Be sure to ask for a view room the desert mountains at night are amazing.

“Fun place to relax for a weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

I've visited here twice now, and enjoyed my stay both times. An enjoyable oasis in the desert- there are several different pools (and jacuzzis) in which to relax, stay cool, and enjoy a few cocktails, all while surrounded by the contrasting views of the lush greenery of the golf course, and the dark rugged mountains in the distance. You don't ever have to leave once you get there. There are 3 or 4 different restaurants, bars, and a nightclub (which I did not go to), including a sushi bar and a Japanese style teppan yaki restaurant. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed, tastefully decorated. I visited with my children. There is one pool on the other side which is more family friendly during busy times, when the main pools are overtaken with groups of young adults- many bachelor and bachelorette parties. Seems like a fun place to go with friends. Also, nice tennis courts and tennis clinics here as well. Accomodates many types of travelers, though it was a bit loud at night.

“There are not enough superlatives!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

This year I went away for Thanksgiving for the first time, and by myself to boot. I arrived at JS Marriott Desert Springs at lunchtime on Thanksgiving, before the stated check-in time. Elizabeth gave me a room overlooking the three pools, with an east-facing balcony. The view was magnificent, and despite being able to "see" the pools, I couldn't "hear" them (yay). In scheduling my trip I had booked a spa treatment for every day - The spa facility is clean and beautiful and quiet. They have a separate pool with no kids allowed, and an on-site bistro with really good food. Dinner was spent at the lobby sushi bar, where Rich made me something crazy-delicious off-menu. My room got full morning sun after about 7am and it was really pleasant to have tea on my private balcony. The shops on site offer a bit of something for everyone. Rockwood Restaurant is a quick boat-ride from the lobby, and their food is fresh and delicious. They also have several fire pits and it was pretty great to have a martini and french fries late into the nite, in the warmth of the fire. Mikado's chef was playful and engaging, and they serve an enormous amount of food. Be ready to catch a shrimp in your mouth when they toss it your way. I didn't play mini-golf, but the fee was included in the "spa fee" and lots of families looked like they were having a good time. I hadn't planned on leaving the resort during my four-day stay because there is so much to do there, but the concierge suggested I might check out the Living Desert's nighttime Christmas lights display. That was pretty great, and I got to ride a camel, too. The fitness center had a new dance class called "LaBlast" that was super fun and a good workout. Despite being fully booked for the holiday, I never once ran into a crowd or felt rushed. All the staff were friendly and helpful - I can't say enough good things about this place and I look forward to being able to return.

Room Tip: There is construction going on behind the ballrooms right now and it would be pretty bad to have a r...
