“Great resort - and still smoker-friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2011

Just checked in here today for an overnight stay. Like all domestic Marriott properties, this one is also non-smoking in all rooms and public areas but there's an ashtray on the balcony and a note in the room telling you it's OK to smoke on the balcony. Nice to see that this Marriott recognises that a balcony is outside (unlike others that prohibit smoking on the balcony).

My friend and I took a mini vacation and stayed a night at this hotel. The staff was amazing. Very warm, knowledgable, and happy. The rooms were very clean and had a fantastic view! The property itself is beautiful. We loved sitting in the hotel lounge/lobby as it was open right smack in the middle of the hotel. It boasts a full bar with appetizers, and a separate sushi bar. A few other restaurants are also available. A couple steps down from the open lounge, you could take a free ride on one of the gondolas that give you a mini tour of the property. The water comes right into the hotel! Very cool!
The reason I gave this hotel only 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the annoying scene at the pool. Though this hotel offers a kids club and activities for the kids, I would never take my kids here. G-strings and stilettos. That should about sum it up. Oh! And make out sessions galore! It was a little ridiculous. I felt like I was right smack in the middle of a jersey shore episode with how tacky the scene was at the pool. Commenting to a staff member about it, they replied "we've tried to clean it up, but it hasn't been successful". How about a simple dress code? And a couple PDA rules? Just a thought. Don't get me wrong...even I was ogling at the perfect butts...but seriously, it also made me uncomfortable and self conscious. Perfect place for 20-somethings....not so much for the washed up mom! Overall, pool time aside...it was a nice place to stay.

This hotel has a very beautiful lobby. I am always impressed by the boat that drives through it. Be sure to get directions to your room from the front desk because it can be a bit confusing as there are multiple elevators to different sections of rooms. If you are going during the summer months be prepared for a "vegas" like feel in the pool area. There are a lot of people that are drinking a lot and a tanning. Be sure to have your ID as you must have it to get drinks and there is a 2 drink max at one time from the bartender. It is a fun hotel...not a ton to do in Palm Springs except relax. I wouldn't suggest staying in this area for more than a weekend at that.

Room Tip: Getting a good room depends on what you are looking for. If you are going to be at the pool be sure...

As soon as you step into the bright and welcoming lobby of this inviting hotel you feel a sense of peace and calm. From the beauty of the design to the blue water of the man made lake outside, this is truly a vacation to be remembered.. Wonderful shops, boats to take you to a variety of restaurants and excellent service all around is what I have found each time I've visited here.
But the best offering of all is the spa where an array of treatments awaits guests who are saavy enough to indulge themselves with one or more of the stress reducing offers. Spend the day being pampered, relax at the pool, then get yourself ready for a dinner that your taste buds will appreciate..This is an all in one luxury you should experience at least once.

Room Tip: I love the rooms on the mezzanine overlooking the lobby as I enjoy listening to the piano music at...

This is really a nice property. The grounds and all the water there makes for a relaxing place to stay. The rooms were just fine, nothing to write home about. Service was okay also. They forgot to give us turn down service in the evening and didn't come to make up the room until after 2:30pm. After playing 18 holes in the morning, I wanted to come back, shower and relax. The housekeeping crew prevented that so I was a little inconvenient.
Check on the driving range and putting greens for availability. Played golf Thurs, Fri, and Saturday without warming up on the range or even having a putting green to putt on. It's that time of the year for punching the greens and sanding them. Just bad timing since they have to do it. They make up for it in their green fees, Oh Wait, no they didn't. It was still full price. Oh well. If their property wasn't so nice, I'd have to say I'd go elsewhere.

The hotel failed to let me know it was under major renovations when booking the property. It is, nonetheless, a nice option in the California desert. The main lobby renovation is completed and it looks great. They are working to install wifi in the guest rooms, which can be seen in my photo here. It was not yet working. The property is very large (800+ rooms) and not that tall, so you can be a far walk from the lobby. Ask for a room close to whatever you do most (i.e., spa, pool, lobby if you will be coming/going alot.) Even though I am an elite Marriott member, I didn't get a king bed room, despite my prior request and neither did a get a renovated room. But I'm just here for 3 days on business, so it isn't bad. The old rooms are dated looking, but are in good repair and fully functional. Room service was prompt, but the Häagen-Dazs icecream had obviously melted and been refrozen, as it was filled with ice crystals and certainly not Häagen-Dazs standard creamy delight. Otherwise the meal was fine.

Room Tip: The property sprawls so ask for a room near whatever you will be doing most (i.e., spa, pool, golf o...
