“Used to be my favorite hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

I always loved this hotel. I would park my car on Friday night, enjoy the pool, the spa, the seven restaurants and Costas and only leave the property on Sunday when it was time to go home.

Unfortunately this hotel is now in desperate need of a make over, my favorite restaurant closed and the sushi place has turned into a less enjoyable and more expensive version of Benihana and the Lake View restaurant for breakfast was mediocre at best. We ordered room service the first night and it took forever the next day for them to take it away. Additionally, when we returned to the hotel room around 5 the cleaning staff had not made up our room. That may have been because it was a holiday weekend but still frustrating that we'd been away from our room since 9am and in that time they'd not come by.

I was there over Memorial Weekend and the crowd, usually golfers was replaced by 20-somethings on a working person's spring break. What was impressive was the good level of service from hotel staff in-spite of that. Overall, it's not as luxurious as it once was but I understand the property is slated for a remodel and that would be a great thing. Until then I will be checking out another property for future visits.

Have stayed at the JW many, many times for business. Was there again in early May for a conference. This facility is older, but still has many of the amenities that one would expect from a Marriott property. Now, it's not nearly as nice as some of the new JW properties, but it still holds its own.

Remember, that this is a fairly low-rise hotel and is VERY spread-out. I've stayed both in the main area around the lobby atrium, and far off. Just be prepared to walk a lot.

The only complaint I have is that the pool area can become rather crazy. Not bad if your into that thing, but if you're brining a family, just beware. Overall, we had a nice time and will be back.

We came to this hotel for a celebratory weekend with extended family. We all felt like hostages here and couldn't wait until we could check out. The hotel is filled with 35-year-olds partying as if it's their college spring break, drunk and noisy all hours of the day, pouring beer into the swimming pool, screaming and yelping in the hallways all night long, and crowding the pools with throbbing music and vulgar talk all day. One drunken guest kept insisting that one of us was stalking him; another knocked loudly on our room door after midnight because she had lost her room key.
We came expecting a quiet poolside vacation in the desert.

We had a fabulous experience, but be prepared to pay for it $$$. We had a group of friends/couples all in our mid 30's for a weekend of relaxation. The resort is huge and the grounds are very nice. The lobby is absolutely beautiful. The front desk was really helpful and we checked in right away on a Friday morning at 11:30 am. It took a while to find our room, we were on the 7th floor, but only the elevator in the lobby went to the 7th floor. We walked two flights of stairs with all of our stuff...kind of annoying, but not that big of a deal. The room was dated, but spacious, clean and comfortable with a nice view of one of the pools. The internet was extremely slow, so the front desk refunded our fee.

Restaurants- Mikados was fantastic! Great food and the chefs are really entertaining. The atmosphere is really fun and the food is all prepared and cooked in front of you. They brought out huge desserts to celebrate the three birthdays in our party, which was a nice surprise!

The lobby has a fantastic bar where we had lunch (great paninis and cocktails) There is also a sushi bar that served really good rolls! Not sure how our sushi bill was $200 for only three people??? The bar is the place to be and is packed 10 pm til close.

Lakeview- Breakfast was fabulous... crab benedict and a bloody mary, kind of expensive for $35, but worth it. We had dinner the second night, very good ...$29/person was reasonable for a prime rib and seafood buffet. There was a super drunk guy with an ice chest of beer hanging out by our table...not sure why. He offered me a beer, but I declined. :)

Pool- There are three pools, one for kids, one at the spa and the main pool. On Friday the main pool was great....not a huge crowd and plenty of room to hang out with our friends. The main pool is best during the week.

On Saturday, it was a sea of bachelorettes and tattooed muscled up dudes. I think I saw five girls wearing veils in the pool with entourages of bridesmaids in pink trucker hats. It was comical. There was a live band which was really fun. The chairs were all taken by 10 am. A woman actually tried to tell me she was saving 17 chairs, yeah right, I don't think so. The staff is great about finding chairs for you, or moving them around for guests who leave towels and don't return. The scene was kind of crazy, but we were up for a good time and everyone was having fun. The service was amazing, despite the huge crowd. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes for a drink with a packed pool. At $12 a cocktail, we had quite the huge bill at the end of the day.

Spa- Some of the girls in our party went to the spa and loved it. I didn't want to pay $45 to use the spa pool, probably should have considering what I spent at the main pool on drinks!

Night Club- there is also a club on sight at the resort. $10 to get in, no lines and good music. We requested a room away from the club, but the noise didn't seem too bad.

Overall, its a beautiful resort. As Marriott members, we used points for the room. I don't think I would spend $250 night to stay here unless we had points again, or it was during the week avoiding the crowds.

Advantages- beautiful grounds, great restaurants, dance club, fantastic lobby bar, sushi bar, amazing spa and golf

Disadvantages- very expensive, main pool is way too crowded with bachelorettes on weekends (server mentioned to us that this was a typical weekend at the pool),
hotel caters to a really young crowd, huge complex with very long walks to your room

The resort is huge and nestled in a golf club. The common area and the outside facilities Are beautiful. My room was very far away from the reception and the meeting area. The room was big, nice, but nothing special. No frigobar! The second day i orderd breakfast and had it on the terrace, i had a banana and the test of it remained outside my room for the following 2 days.

My husband and I just stayed here and it was a nightmare! It has really gone down hill. This is now a big PARTY hotel with hundreds of twenty year olds EVERYWHERE so forget about even trying to get to the pool. They start BLASTING the music outside at 9:00am and it continues all day until 5:00pm so do not bring your children here!!! Horrilbe food, customer service and bed bugs. Stay away!

It was an amazing Memorial Day fiesta! Excellent staff and beautiful, vibrant, positive visitors happy to meet new people. The dance club was amazing & the live band near the pool kept the ambiance chill:) The day spa was also a beautiful & relaxing experience!
