We had a lovely time at the International. We only stayed two nights but wished we stayed longer. It'd be a great place to relax for a week.
I saw a decent rate (about $129/night not including taxes) for it online and came on TripAdvisor to make sure it was a good hotel. Thanks to these reviews, I am glad I booked this place. I listened to the advice and got a room on the second floor, which looked much better than the first floor rooms.
From the outside, you might think that you've booked a fleabag motel but don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, don't judge the International Lodge for it's older exterior. All of the rooms have been completely renovated, with furniture straight out of a W or Standard Hotel. Hip, modern and very comfortable.
We had a King Suite and it was extremely large, spacious, way bigger than we needed. It came with a full kitchen complete with utensils and cups, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, ice maker and stove. Our bed was gigantic and firm. We had a great sleep. There's a small flat screen TV with cable, a sofa, a love seat and a little desk with two bar stools. The bathroom had the sink separate from the toilet/shower (which I loved) and the sink was really cool. We had the amenities we needed - soap, shampoo, conditioner, plenty of towels. The shower was the only thing not renovated but it was perfectly fine.
The lodge has TWO pools and a jacuzzi that are open 24 hours (as long as you are quiet! Don't be rude to your fellow guests). We used the jacuzzi late at night and met other guests from Seattle. We were all very quiet and made sure we weren't disturbing other guests because the first floor rooms opened up to the jacuzzi/pool, which can be bothersome I'm sure. However, it seemed like everyone that stayed here understood to be courteous and kind to others and no one was even remotely loud. We could hear a pin drop at this lodge, it was so quiet and relaxing. The walls were thick inside the rooms.
Parking was free and plentiful. WiFi was also free but we didn't get a very strong connection. It was okay because we wanted to disconnect and relax. The area that the lodge is in is about 25 minutes away from downtown Palm Springs. It's between Palm Springs and Indian Wells. You definitely need a car and there were several strip malls and shopping centers within one mile of the lodge.
The manager who greeted us, Leo, was very warm and accommodating. He made us feel very welcome right from the start. Cleaning staff was also great - they folded the towels into little elephants. Our room was cleaned perfectly.
You can see how lovely the rooms are in the pictures I've posted - I forgot to mention the balcony/patio that we had! We had a really fantastic time and I can't wait to come back here again, as long as prices stay affordable!
