“Comfy, but bamboo shades not private enough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Overall experience was very good. Inside and out was very clean which is most important to us. Stayed two nights and rates were very good. Sold out weekend for many hotels and we paid half the price of surrounding properties. Staff was extremely polite and professional. It was very comfortable with a fully stocked kitchen all the way down to dish soap which was fantastic. I would prefer to stay here than a hotel. One problem...the window treatments were bamboo which did not provide the privacy required. With lights on at night you could see right into the unit through the bamboo shades. Other units did have curtains and I would request for next stay. We requested a refurbished room and it was modern with laminate floors and updated fixtures.

Room Tip: Request a room with curtains not bamboo shades. Bamboo shades do not provide privacy required.

Alan has a unique place in Palm Desert. The Hotel is quiet & private. His staff is friendly and courteous. He brought me a Breakfast Burrito one morning during my stay. I think I might request an omelette next visit.!

Although the outside is well kept it is old with little to no landscaping. We were a little worried on arrival but were quite pleased by the end of our stay. Our room was cute and clean, needing an update, but very spacious, homey, and comfortable. We had everything we needed, they were very polite and professional, and it was quiet. It's not first class but for the price it's nice!

We had a lovely time at the International. We only stayed two nights but wished we stayed longer. It'd be a great place to relax for a week.

I saw a decent rate (about $129/night not including taxes) for it online and came on TripAdvisor to make sure it was a good hotel. Thanks to these reviews, I am glad I booked this place. I listened to the advice and got a room on the second floor, which looked much better than the first floor rooms.

From the outside, you might think that you've booked a fleabag motel but don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, don't judge the International Lodge for it's older exterior. All of the rooms have been completely renovated, with furniture straight out of a W or Standard Hotel. Hip, modern and very comfortable.

We had a King Suite and it was extremely large, spacious, way bigger than we needed. It came with a full kitchen complete with utensils and cups, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, ice maker and stove. Our bed was gigantic and firm. We had a great sleep. There's a small flat screen TV with cable, a sofa, a love seat and a little desk with two bar stools. The bathroom had the sink separate from the toilet/shower (which I loved) and the sink was really cool. We had the amenities we needed - soap, shampoo, conditioner, plenty of towels. The shower was the only thing not renovated but it was perfectly fine.

The lodge has TWO pools and a jacuzzi that are open 24 hours (as long as you are quiet! Don't be rude to your fellow guests). We used the jacuzzi late at night and met other guests from Seattle. We were all very quiet and made sure we weren't disturbing other guests because the first floor rooms opened up to the jacuzzi/pool, which can be bothersome I'm sure. However, it seemed like everyone that stayed here understood to be courteous and kind to others and no one was even remotely loud. We could hear a pin drop at this lodge, it was so quiet and relaxing. The walls were thick inside the rooms.

Parking was free and plentiful. WiFi was also free but we didn't get a very strong connection. It was okay because we wanted to disconnect and relax. The area that the lodge is in is about 25 minutes away from downtown Palm Springs. It's between Palm Springs and Indian Wells. You definitely need a car and there were several strip malls and shopping centers within one mile of the lodge.

The manager who greeted us, Leo, was very warm and accommodating. He made us feel very welcome right from the start. Cleaning staff was also great - they folded the towels into little elephants. Our room was cleaned perfectly.

You can see how lovely the rooms are in the pictures I've posted - I forgot to mention the balcony/patio that we had! We had a really fantastic time and I can't wait to come back here again, as long as prices stay affordable!

Room Tip: Get a second floor room not by the pool unless you like being by the pool

We arrived midweek with our small dog, and our room was ready, as promised. We were pleasantly surprised how large the accomodation is. Everything is surplied with daily maid service. Alan was most helpful, even down to assisting obtaining an internet WIFI conection. Parking was very convenient. Use of the provided BBQ was a treat for us, as we do not have that opportunity at home in Canada. One thing we did miss was not having a phone in our room. However, there is no problem using the office phone anytime during normal office hours.Thank you to Alan and Leo for making our four week stay so pleasant. This is our second stay in this complex and we have already booked a return six week vacation for 2014.

My room was very spacious and had all the goodies that make a hotel stay comfortable. Fully equipped with coffee maker, toaster, stove and full size fridge. Although I did not use the pool I did enjoy looking at it from my balcony. I also noticed a propane grill in pool area.
Price was great and the location was centrally located to everything.

Room Tip: If you plan on an extended stay THIS IS THE PLACE. Has everything you will need to feel at home.

My wife and I recently stayed at the International Lodge and greatly enjoyed our stay. Alan and his staff are outstanding and our suite was both charming and well-equipped with every kitchen dish and utensil required for meal preparation. We loved the pools and central location to restaurants and shopping and we are already looking forward to our stay next year. Monte Harris
