“Killer gazpatcho and unique Tapas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013 via mobile

Don' t know about the opening pains. Do know the waiter recognized us from the week before. He did know his menu offering insites into the choices. The overly loud pianio dude was gone replaced by a more in the '60's theme singer / key board player.

The churro desert is awesome with the two ( I won't spoil by telling what they are) dipping sauces.

We like that the menu has dishes we don't fix at home, paella for example.

We have been several time and will be back as it has become one of our favs.

“New top Tapas in our book...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Great retro vibe (Palm Springs Modern meets old Hollywood). The Best Tapas in town. Having eaten at just about every small plate place in town we can find, including the one run by an award winning chef...We've had just some excellent small plates at Sasspers. Their signature cocktails are killer! I love their Manhattan, while my wife loves their Rotating Sour. Read another review that was disappointed... not our experiences there at all. Granted we tend to be there early (music starts at 6 pm.. some super piano and guest musicians), but the service has been superb as has the food and libations. The prices were also REALLY reasonable for their small plates.

“Weak food, weak vibe (wise essay)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Since they only recently opened, they probably deserve a break-in period, but our experience was so bad it will be hard to give a second chance. Fist of all, very chaotic atmosphere. Much hustle-bustle in an odd-shaped room. The front room is cozy, but the night we were there a singer/piano player dominated the room, both space-wise and loudness-wise. Oddly, he couldn't be seen or heard in the bar area. The waiter knew nothing about tapas, so we walked him through the menu. The subsequent orders arrived slowly and basically cold. The choices were minimal and not authentic in any way. The saving grace is the bartender, who knew his stuff and mixed great drinks. The bar scene was anemic and without joy. If they think people will come for the food and stay for the vibe, they will probably be gone by next season. Tinto in Palm Springs is way better vibe. drinks, service and food-wise.
