“Great Seafood Restaurant inside JW Marriott, Palm Springs, CA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Looking for a great experience in Palm Springs? At the JW Marriott Resort, you enter into the lobby and take a 'boat ride' to the restaurant. We chose Fisherman's Landing and the food was excellent. My fisherman's platter with shrimp, clams, crab, mussels, and scallops over linguini was excellent. Best I've had in a long time.
Great variety of food and the servers were very helpful and knowledgeable. We will definitely return.

“Not up to standard or expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

For those of you familiar with the UK this restaurant is 'A Harvester with fish.'
For those unfamiliar its a restaurant in 5 star environs with nowhere near the quality and service you'd expect at the price point. (I understand that it's a franchise with the marriot which may explain our experience)

The staff were pleasantly helpful but not particularly knowledgeable about the menu. I asked about some of the fish and went for the mahi mahi despite being told that it was dolphin (if the kids have been to Seaworld recently then expect tears at teatime!). We ordered mussel steamer and fish taco.

We were seated quickly but against a wall when there were window seats available, we moved after requesting the window seat.

The mussels arrived promptly, we're in a tasty broth but we're overcooked and likely microwaved.
Half way through the mussels our mains were delivered and there was no recognition that we were still on starters.

My mahi mahi was well grilled but not well seasoned and was acceptably bland at best. The rice was nice. The tacos were nothing special despite having won awards according to the menu. We compared them wholly unfavourably to fish tacos from garbos grill key West. They were not on the same planet! (I guess fish taco competitions are not so hotly contested in the middle of a dessert!?).

The wine was 36 dollars a bottle and from new Zealand (come on guys...Napa on your doorstep and you are importing 10 pound bottles of generic new Zealand wine!). We ordered this as the rest were even more wildly overpriced.

Service after being seated as laxidasical at best. 100 dollars for wine two courses and a shared starter.

Difficult to recommend I'm afraid.

“Seafood feast in the desert!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Very informal, friendly restaurant. We waited ages to be attended to but once they realised we had been overlooked they could not have done more for us. I had the steamed clams which were delicious. My partner had the Hawaian dish which he thoroughly enjoyed. Did not go back but only because we ran out of time.

“Great fresh seafood options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

The restaurants is delightfully casual with a bar and indoor/outdoor seating. You can get fish prepared just about any way you wish - and there are wonderful appetizer options as well. We ate at the bar - I had sliders - husband had fish and chips - both delicious.

“Great find for the game - and for dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

We ate here for dinner and then came back for the Bronco's game on Sunday. Dinner was good, had a patio table overlooking the pool. There is a large seafood selection and you can even buy fresh fish if you have cooking facilities (or just want some raw ahi...) The wine list is nice. For the game on Sunday, I thought the Bloody Mary's (while good) were overpriced at $11.95.
