“Best Burger in California”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014

I stumbled upon Schmidy's while visiting the PGA Superstore in Palm Desert recently. Schmidy's is a "triple D" kind of place for those of you who are fans of Guy Fieri. It offers a selection of 25 craft beers with about 10 or 15 on tap at anyone time. But the real surprise of Schmidy's are the burgers. The kitchen team only uses ribeye steaks which are ground down into the half pound sized burgers. Typically, accompanied by a toasted fresh bun, with tomato, lettuce, cheese and bacon these burgers are just out of this world! They also come with french fries that are super fresh and home cut potatoes. How did this place go undiscovered? It is simply awesome! Honestly, I love burgers and good dive bar is a treasure, but this place is just out of this world.

“Fantastic Band!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013 via mobile

We had heard from friends about this great band in Palm Desert on Wednesday night. They were not wrong. Kind of a hole in the wall place but the band was extremely good! Really good. There is room to dance and people were enjoying the dance floor. They even take requests :)
The service was nil.
The rum and coke I ordered was horrible...bartender Billy couldn't even tell me what kind of rum it was...only bar rum...hmmm.no name. Coke cylinder needed changing as well it was just sugar syrup. Didn't manage more than a couple of sips. Gross. Switched to red wine.warm...really warm. The owners should get two buck chuck from trader Joes..it would definitely taste better. My hubby's beer was good. I am rating this place high only due to the band. Otherwise I would give it a pass. No menu offered so cannot tell you about the food. The band deserves a better space to showcase their talent.

“Poor Beer Selection”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

Stopped in for a drink. Poor selection of beer and Ales. Wine selection not much either. The Hot Dog was a foot long while the bun was 5 inches. No condiments were served with it. Strange. Service was good but I will not return.

“disappointing selection of beers on tap and only Bud Light Happy Hour special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

being relatively new to staying in Palm Springs and after reading some decent reviews on yelp, we thought we'd start our Palm Springs pub hopping with a new place - Schmidy's Tavern .... despite the fact that we were within a stone's throw of Dickie O'Neal's (with its $3 Guinness on tap !!!!!!) .......

We saw the $3 for 3 hours sign outside and the chalkboard listing regular and guest beers on tap ...... first clue should have been that the "list is old; we don't have those on tap right now". Wanting a dark beer, we settled for a Guinness because the only beer available for the $3 Happy Hour was ..... Bud Light ! I can understand not having everything for $3, but Bud Light was the ONLY special. Not even $1 off for anything else during Happy Hour ?!

So, $6 later, we wandered off to find something to eat because the bar menu and happy hour specials didn't sound too appetizing or too interesting ...... I guess our first clue was that the place was nearly empty on a Saturday during Happy Hour ...... we regretted not starting at Dickie O'Neals ......

There are about a dozen beers on tap, but they seemed like the usual suspects and at full price, not a very interesting Happy Hour experience at Schmidy's.

(why we didn't realize that there was also a Yardhouse outlet in town - since every other chain on the planet exists in Palm Springs - is beyond me !) Go to Dickie O'Neal's and/or the Yardhouse, the only two other places we know about at the moment - good food, great beers on tap, decent prices ......
