This trail is not one for someone who is looking for a challenging hike but is very enjoyable. there is a lovely view from nearly all places along the trail. I went alone and did not feel overly concerned about personal safety on the trail. There are plenty of people using the trail, it is a open area for the most part so you can see others and they can see you. The ground is mainly dirt so not too many places with treacherous footing. It isn't super steep if you stick to the main trail. The faster you go will give you a better workout. Mornings are most popular because it is cooler. If you go in the afternoon, be prepared for the sun, there is virtually no shade. Take water. I also saw a couple of people on mountain bikes when I was on the trail and when you look to the mountain at night you can see the headlights of the bikers making their way down the trails. You would definitely have to be a bit of an adventurer to try this trail on a bike at night!
