“Nothing to rave about”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

This place is the favorite Mexican restaurant of our friends who live in Palm Desert. It was packed the Sunday night we went. That could explain the somewhat indifferent and sloppy
service. The wait staff spilled food and utensils twice on one of our companions, prompting
an angry reaction. Fortunately, the food and drink fared better. The margaritas were decent.
Next came the tortilla soup, with generous chunks of chicken and jalapeno cheese...delicious.
My chile relleno was excellent, the hard-shell chicken taco wasn't bad. The chicken mole
got my wife's approval. Two of our friends also had the relleno..their favorite dish. An L.A
native, I was hoping for more traditional food. Many of the dishes seemed more suited to American tastes. Unlike many excellent Mexican restaurants in Los Angeles, there's a dearth of this cuisine in the desert communities. Fresh Agave tries its best to fill the need.

“Good Mexican Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Had a great meal at Agave. Prices are reasonable. The avacado dip was very good, made fresh at your table. They take reservations and are very crowded on the weekends. You will have to wait even with the reservation.

“A must try in Palm Desert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

We go here when ever we're in Palm Desert. The food is authentic mexican food and the margueritas are fantastic. This is not your chain style mexican food. The portions are good for sharing or having some to take home. Nice atmosphere and good service.

Haven't had a bad meal yet and have no problems recommending Fresh Agave.

“Great service just ok food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

We went for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was packed which was encouraging. First the good, the service was top notch from beginning to end. The chips and salsa was also quite good. The chicken tortilla soup was above average but not among the best. I would sum up the food by saying it really depends on your vision of good mexican food. I think a certain amount of heat is a necessary ingredient in most good mexican dishes. And it is not enough to offer salsa or hot sauce. For example when I order an enchilada I expect a sauce with a deep complex flavor from fresh and or dried peppers. That was not present in any of the dishes we ate. Nothing was terrible but everything tended toward the bland. If you are not a fan of spicy mexican food this might be the perfect restaurant for you. I gave three stars because even though the food was not seasoned to my taste the service was excellent.

“Strong margaritas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Great table side quacamole and very stout margaritas followed by solid traditional mexican food. I had the chili rellenos and my wife had burritos. Both were very tasty. Good service. A place where the locals go.
