“The Zoo that is much more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

The living desert is much more then just a zoo. It is a reserve where you can see local animals and there habates. You my also see exotic and unusaul wildlife. The people are willing to inform you and enducate your children on the livestyles.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Very well designed and lots of interesting exhibits. It can get very warm (this is the desert), so I would recommend going early in the day while temperatures are still comfortable.

“Nice conservation, but needs a lot of attention”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

I'll warn you, this place is blazing during the summer months. Go early in the AM if you have to go during the summer.

The facility has some really nice animals to view. They are all endangered species. The habitats need some serious work. Some animals have a lot of space, but not much to work with. Many of the lots were just dirt. The animals had no shade, and no water. I feel like this can easily be taken care of.

The pace for the sand cat and the cheetah were really small. They were both pacing back and forth and looked as though they were dehydrated and exhausted. I felt horrible!

I didn't get a chance to look at the gardens. I plan on going back when it cools down, maybe in January.

I really think this place has so much potential. It is very EXPENSIVE to keep a zoo running! So please, lets support this local zoo and help them give these beautiful endangered species a good life!

“Wildlife Attraction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

I was pleasantly surprised by the Living Desert. My first plan was to walk around, but with the heat, the shuttle seemed the best option. That was great. The friendly drivers narrate as they take you through the park and drop you off anywhere. You can also get back on at any time. Since it is California desert, the animals at the park are animals you would find in deserts around the world. To see the giraffes in the hills in the distance was beautiful, and to watch the wildlife interacting with each other was great. I look forward to going back sometime for the giraffe feeding at 10 am. The park had several paths where you could explore and there were things for children to enjoy, like the African village and camel rides.
