“the enclaves section is terrific”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2010

This was our first trip to Palm Springs.Palm Desert, so it goes without saying this was our first to the Enclaves of Shadow Ridge. The entire property of S.R. is very nice, but we had been told via Trip Adv to request certain areas/rooms/sections, and we were glad we did. The property is family friendly, with lots of children. Since we are long past the kids, we sought out the quieter locations. The Enclaves are relatively new and consist of just 3 bldgs.4400 faces the pool directly, 4300 gives a sideways view of the pool, and 4500 is obstructed since it is angled toward the golf course and scrub woods (like an open U). The fronts face the pool, the rear faces a parking area. 4500 is very inconvenient to the parking lot, since it shares the lot with 4300 and the walk is far. Each bldg has 3 levels.
This is a typical time share resort, so bring your own supplies. The layout of each unit is very different from the older Marriott timeshares. It is very modern and the main room is spacious, with the bedroom open to the living room. The bath shower and kitchen are also new style with ss appliances and breakfast table bar instead of d.r. table. The lock-out is small however and feels tight.
The location is great and the entire area is well laid out. It is easy to get around Palm Springs/Palm Desert/Rancho Mirage. There are lots of restaurants, from large chains like Olive Garden and Cheesecake Factory to smaller restaurants. So, the prices range the same way.
Some things to not miss. The aeriel tram ride is spectacular. Temps at the top were 55 with 95 on the bottom. Cant say enough good things about the ride and the view. On Sat and Sunday the College at the Desert has a flea market, so get souveniers there. Thurs nites is a street fair consisting of mostly food vendors and very high end art and craft vendors. There are 6 casinos in the immediate area, and we visited 5. The best food was Fantasy Springs, but the best payouts were at Augustine.
Loved the area, the hotel was clean and the food ran the gamut of choices. Would definitely return to this site. No pressure to buy like some timeshares.

My wife and I go to Palm Springs area at least three to four times a year, and this was one of the nicest places we've stayed for the money in the desert. With this portion of the resort built in 2009 it has all the amenities for a week long stay. We are not time share people and just reserved this on their website with a very nice discount. We got the hard sell when checking in to do the time share thing but after that we were never asked again to go for the presentation. We had a one bedroom suite, that had a great layout, and amazing views of the pool and mountains. We were ground level and were a 10 second walk form our lanai to the pool. The room had flat screen tvs, washer dryer, great kitchen, and a comfortable bed. No tub but great shower with dual heads. Played golf at the resort, and course is a great track one of the better ones in the desert. We didn't dine at the resort but heard ok things about the Nick Faldo Bar and Grill. I would highly recommend this if you can get a deal.

We stayed with our 11 and 6 year children over the Thanksgiving week and absolutely love this resort. I have been traveling to the desert for over twenty years and stayed at most of the better resorts. We finally decided that this is perfect for us and bought the two bedroom deluxe platinum week 52 at the Enclaves. This is the only two bedroom double master suite in the Marriot family. The comments of too small is far from the truth these are more than enough for a family of four and extended family. The resort is pristine and amenties abound. If you love golf, tennis, or just lounging by one of the many pools you will be more than fine. Thanksgiving week and lounge chairs abounded with 98% occupancy. The kids loved the waterslide and MAZE area (arcade, movies, crafts, pool table, air hockey). I played 3 rounds of golf with my son and rates were very reasonable - 20% off for members 50% off for kids at Shadow Ridge and Marriott's Desert Springs. For those Spa lovers, you have access to the JW Marriott's Desert Springs world class spa. This is definitely a 4 star + resort - you will not be dissapointed.

I was very disappointed to enter our unit and find it so dirty. The resort is very lovely and accomodating for any traveler. The unit on the other hand was just dirty. The floor was not swept- there were pieces of onion or something greasy stuck to the kitchen floor and hallway. The frosted dining table had finger prints as did the refridgerator and stove. The carpet had fresh crumbs. Oh, the chair and ottoman in the bedroom had frosting or some thick "white" something plastered to it. I covered the chair and ottoman with towels. I cleaned everything before unpacking. Other than the initial shock of dirt, the unit cleaned up well and had a lovely time.

We exchanged here with Interval International and could not be more please with our decision. We stayed in building 4900 on the second floor. We had 3 adults and 4 children aged 3-10. We easily all fit comfortably. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The service staff was very friendly and promptly responded to any request that we had.

The pools were great, especially after some of the unseasonably HOT temperatures that we experienced in October.

It was a very relaxing place to be and its close proximity to lots of shopping was also a plus. (side note: for some excellent outlet shopping, head to Cabazon about 20 min away).

We spent a night at at this property, before moving to Rancho Las Palmas. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The resort was overrun with children. The walls of our room were thin and we could hear the children in the next room early in the morning. Not the relaxing time we expected. There is no place on the property to eat breakfast, which meant that we had to get in the car and drive somewhere. We found silverfish in the bathroom. This property falls way short of Rancho Las Palmas for the same price.

My wife and I love Marriott resorts, have been to many. The new Enclave section at the Shadow Ridge has a great new pool area but the rooms are way to small. The full kitchen and living room are good but the bedroom and the bathroom are way too small. The sliding door that divides the bedroom from the living room is terrible. Not nearly enough dresser space for clothing and no bath tub. When you are spending a week away with family you need some space and this floor plan doesn't provide it.
