I wanted to get away for just one night and Rockaway Beach seemed like the perfect place to stay since it's just a little over an hour from home.
As is always my preference, I'd requested an upper floor room when I made my reservation for a King, Ocean View room. Unfortunately that was not a good thing at this Holiday Inn. Directly outside the window of my room - #210 - was a roof peak that totally blocked the view of the ocean. The unfortunate part of it is that this roof peak is purely ornamental and doesn't actually need to be there! I called the front desk to see if there was another Ocean View room available and they moved me to the room directly below. This room was so much better because instead of a roof peak, this room had a very nice balcony! Much better! I would have preferred low chairs to sit and enjoy the view over the high table and chairs they had there, but even still I was very happy to have the only balcony room that directly faces the ocean.
I found the rest of the room to be very comfortable. They should post instructions as to how to turn on the gas fireplace and to not have the DVD player on if you want to watch TV. The previous guest must have left it on and until I called and asked why I couldn't get many stations I didn't realize this was the reason.

It was nice to be able to walk to nearby shopping and to the beach where you can watch surfers all day long. The Taco Bell just down the road truly is right on the beach, which is a plus! Grab a taco and a seat on their deck and enjoy all the activity!

This was a great hotel for the price. It was really clean, the front desk people were super nice, and the view was awesome. The continental breakfast was pretty decent too. The only thing I didn't like was the cigarette smell right outside our room, I can't believe hotels still allow smoking in them!! Pacifica is a really pretty laid back town. We didn't find many good restaurants in Pacifica, although if you go just out side of the town there are plenty to choose from. I definitely would stay there again.

We took a family trip to the bay area in Sept 2007 (myself, husband & 2 year old son). We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in the "family suite". It has a living room area with a seperate bedroom with a king bed & lovely jacuzzi tub. This is the exact set-up we were looking for b/c we like to be able to put the little guy to bed, close the door, and enjoy some time together after a day of sightseeing in San Francisco (which is only a short 20 minute drive away). Not only is the room perfect, but the hotel is located adjacent to the beach which is a dream! Great location & great room!

My wife & I stayed here for 5 nights & were really impressed. We go to San Francisco almost every year to visit friends. They have a cat & my wife is allergic, therefore we always stay in a hotel. This is the first time we've stayed outside of San Fran & after this trip, I don't know if we'll ever stay in San Fran again. In fact, I doubt we'd stay anywhere but Pacifica in the future. The hotel was very clean & all the staff I met were very nice. We reserved & stayed in a queen bed/sofa room. It was perfect for us. The room had a small frigde & a microwave. It's also only a 15 - 20 minute drive to most of attractions of San Francisco. Being on the beach was very nice, there were tons of people out surfing all day, everyday, something foreign to us east coasters in February. There's also a great walking path along the coast that runs for miles in each direction, very scenic. Anyway, without a doubt, we'd stay here again. It's close proximity to San Francisco & coastal points of interest can't be beat.
