“Nice place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014 via mobile

We stayed their a few weeks ago on business. Nice litttle motel. Owners and staff very friendly. The rooms have no air conditioning but you really don't need it. It cools off in evenings very nice. Rooms are very clean. I would stay there again if I'm in the area? The sunset views are Awsome.. If you like sleeping to the sound of surf the rooms are only a few hundred feet from the water!

We were welcomed by a gentleman from Wolverhampton who ensured that our party of 4 Brits was well provided with. The place is an old traditional style of motel. Clean, warm (well it was December) and well maintained. Plenty of tea and coffee available. Easy to fine even in the dark. Golden gate, Baker Beach only a 30 minute drive if the traffic is quiet.

It is so close to the sea that during a stormy night you will go to sleep to the sound of the waves crashing into the cove, like we did. Highly reccomended.

Plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance (1mile) although who would go further than Nicks is a mystery to me.

Room Tip: Rooms closer to reception are quieter, they are away from the restaurant

Basically people stay here as it's closest to the ocean. You're actually not on or overlooking a beach with the exception of a few rooms at the end by the reception thats if the parking lot isn't full..I heard the manager questioning someone whether they are staying at the hotel or going to the restaurant due to where they parked. When you look out you can see the ocean if the parking lot isn't full of cars. The waves crashing on a clear calm night is good for the mind. The rooms are very small , they finally upgraded to getting WI-FI the Televisions have been changed recently from Analog with VHF/UHF to Thin screen.Bathrooms are small with shower, rooms have Queen size beds , small table chair, wall heater.Right in the front of Rockaway Beach , next door to local legendary Nick's Restaurant. Rockaway Beach is just a couple minutes walking from the hotel where you can stroll or have picnic .There are tables & parking separate for the beach as well..Overall it's a small clean place that's pushing a little towards the times.A little pricey for what you get yet that's the SF Bay Area for you.

Room Tip: Get a room at the end of the parking lot down from the reception. The rooms are closest to the beac...

We have stayed here several times. The Sea Breeze is an authentic throwback to the 1950s . My husband spent most of the 50s in Pacifica and can't remember a time when it wasn't there. It is very clean and well maintained. Since our last visit they have upgraded to flat screen TVs and free WiFi.
The rooms are small, but nice with comfortable beds. They also have blackout curtains that keep it nice and dark. Noise was not an issue, although there was no one on either side of us. The owner is very friendly and knows the area well. In the evening we went next door to Nick' s restaurant and Lounge. The drinks were expensive, but it was a nice crowd and we had fun dancing.

The only drawback was that it was an exceptionally cold night and the heater in the room was inadequate -extra blankets would have been really nice. I believe they can be obtained from the office (as well as hairdryers). Coffee, tea and sweet rolls are available in the office.

Room Tip: The motel is RIGHT on the ocean, we always stay on the ocean side. You wake in the morning, look out...

My wife and I just returned from a trip to Berkeley and Pacifica, and stayed in this motel for three nights. I read the preceding review rating the motel "terrible", and I have to report a stark contrast in experiences, particularly given that we apparently arrived at the motel within a few minutes of each other. After picking up a car at the San Francisco airport on October 13, we showed up sometime between 3 and 4 pm, had the desk clerk check us in immediately and courteously, went to a clean room (#18) (after navigating around the limo parked at the back of the lot that apparently went with the wedding party mentioned by the preceding reviewer) that had somewhat old but well-maintained furnishings with a nice, firm bed, and settled in for a three-day stay that was quite enjoyable.

The big feature is the location right on Rockaway Beach, a scenic cove for surfing or just walking on the beach. Hiking on the coastal trails leading both north and south from the motel was also a great plus, and the view north and south from atop the high bluff just south of the motel was one of the most fantastic I've had "on the shore of the western sea", and we did live in Berkeley for a few years and have had many such views with which to compare this one.

The motel is oldish, but being kept up well. And if you want some sticker shock, compare the much lower rate here to that of the Holiday Inn Express just inland of this motel, or the Best Western across the street that does also have beach access. Nick's Restaurant, which adjoins the motel, serves good food, as we discovered when we dined there the next night. (We could've used some food at the time of our mid-afternoon arrival, but the restaurant was clogged up with the afore-mentioned wedding party.)

Parking spots in the lot were generously wide and more than sufficient to serve the number of rooms in the motel, a big plus given our experience with other motels of similar vintage. The free high-speed wireless Internet truly was high speed and supported VPN just fine, in contrast to that in the other nominally classier lodging we had during this trip. One minor minus: There is indeed a free breakfast, even though the booking claimed that no meals were included, but it consists of coffee from a Bunn coffeemaker and a basket of packaged convenience store rolls. However, this was still free and unexpected.

We'd definitely stay here again. And my sister, who lives in Santa Cruz and drove up to visit us, remarked at the "great find" we'd made with this motel.

One clarification about a comment about not being able to cancel a room two days prior to arrival: I just looked at the booking.com reservation we made, and, yes, that's accurate and clearly stated.

Room Tip: The rooms on the south side will likely be quieter, being away from the adjoining restaurant and the...

The Sea Breeze Motel brought back memories of traveling in the 50's. It is older and smaller, but clean and adequate. We stayed here the night we arrived in CA and the night before our flight home - about 20 mins from SFO. Situated on the edge of Rockaway Beach, you only have to walk across the small parking lot to see the huge waves crashing into the rocks, or climb onto the adjacent bluff to view magnificent sunrises or sunsets over the ocean. Dillion, the manager, was helpful in every way, from phone reservations to check in, the bathroom lighting was the best (seems insignificant to some but for applying makeup, contacts, etc, was great), and listening to the ocean as I drifted off to sleep was so peaceful. I look forward to staying here again on my next trip to northern California.

Room Tip: Stay on the ocean view side away from the restaurant, if possible.

The motel room was small and the bathroom was old. It's located right beside the ocean which was nice. It was very affordable. We stayed here one night on our honeymoon for access to SF. It was affordable and quaint. It could use remodeling. But we would go back for the money it saved us.
