“Al Fresco lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

We had some time to kill one afternoon in Pacific Grove and we knew we would be having a nice dinner that night so we just wanted a quick lunch. We passed some of the other restaurants in town and didn't want to eat inside as many of them were crowded with tables close together, so the 17th Street Grille was a welcome opportunity. The fact that it advertised burgers, wraps and sandwiches was definitely a selling point for us---best burger? We'll leave that up to the next reviewer as everyone has their own hometown favorite, right? The bacon cheeseburger was a big hit, though, the fries were very tasty. An order of chicken nuggets was delivered with the request that a review of them be given before departing--they had a new supplier for them---so feel free to let the management know your feelings about anything you order. The BIG drawing point for this place, I felt, was that your well-behaved dogs are welcome to dine with you in the outside eating area. There were two other parties that had their dogs with them, one large, one small, both well-behaved. If you are on vacation and strolling around in Pacific Grove, it is nice to know that you don't have to leave your dog in the car (if you have that handy) or return to your hotel to leave your pet there before you grab a bite to eat.

“Excellent Choice of an Informal Meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

The 17th Street Grill offers "home cooked" meals in a very informal setting. The food is very good, and the prices are reasonable. In addition to the usual burger choices, there are plenty of mexican options.

“Best Burgers in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

So I found myself playing the tourist in "downtown" Pacific Grove and realized that I'd never tried the 17th street grill. The open patio and the casual atmosphere make it seem very inviting, so I let myself in.

I ordered a burger and onion rings. I was expecting an ordinary burger, grilled or fried, with the usual condiments and so forth. It took a while to cook, but not extra long. The burger was fantastic. Obviously good meat, with great flavor, and the onion rings were perfect. The breading cooked up into almost a pastry shell, nice and crisp, around a perfectly done ring of onion. The burger was tasty and well-cooked, beef at its best.

The meat wasn't hidden in sauces or condiments. It was right up front, "The star of the plate." I will definitely be back, for another of those fantastic burgers.

“Local flavor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

Stopped here late sunday afternoon, not much open in town for food. Good burgers and fries, casual atmosphere and food made fresh and served hot. Tried the turkey burger and traditional one.

“Nice pet friendly patio, super friendly staff and darned good burgers!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

We can't state that the 17th Street Grille has the best burgers in town because we were in Pacific Grove for only 6 days. However, we did eat there twice and each time we had cheeseburgers with cheddar, fries and soft drinks. Both times the burgers were darned good and the fries were crisp and hot. The service was fast and friendly and we will go back when we visit PG again!
