“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

We've had many fantastic meals here! The food is wonderful, the prices reasonable for the high quality, and the service excellent. One of the best traditional French restaurants I've eaten at.

“A warm welcome.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

Read the reviews and just had to go. Went on Wednesday to get the great deal. Only pork or roast chicken to choose from but both were good. Go for the pork medallions though unless you have a fridge for all the leftover chicken. We were staying in a B & B. After the yummy French onion soup and fresh bread I could hardly finish my meal. My husband chose the pork and I was a bit jealous. The included generous glass of wine was good too. The best part of the whole meal though was the warm friendly atmosphere. Got lots of good advice on area wineries to visit. Felt like eating with friends.

“Best in Pacific Grove!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

Le Normandie was recommended by the inn owner where we were staying when the restaurant first opened a few years ago. Every time we are in Pacific Grove we anticipate eating at Le Normanie, sometimes every night we're in town. It is beyond compare with any other restaurant in PG and we've tried many. The food is absolutely delicious no matter what you order. We usually steer clear of French restaurants, but authentic French Country Cuisine is a whole different story. The owners welcome you as if you are their friends entering their casual family dining room. The father and son are the chefs, and the mother and daughter-in-law are the servers. Extraordinary food! Excellent service! Inviting, casual, relaxing ambiance! We used to walk in, now reservations are definitely a must. From the bread to the soup or salad, the main entre, and to their divine desserts, all is prepared to perfection. Their specials are always great deals and they vary frequently; hence their hand written menus. When we are there on nights when they have musicians (guitarist one night, jazz two nights), once you reserve your table, you're there for the evening. The music always sets the mood for a relaxed evening. The bread tastes like you just walked into a bakery in France. Hot, crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Perfect! The wine is very good and Christine pours a good portion in a good sized wine glass. She knows her wine... and her husband and son's cooking. You won't be disappointed!

“If you are close you must eat here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

What a great evening! First of all call and get a reservation or you will be disappointed. The restaurant is not big and the night we were there all tables were reserved. Our meals were delicious and on the evening we were there musicians played softly in the background. Christine told us our table was not needed and we could stay as long as we wanted to talk and enjoy the music. If you are anywhere in the area make your reservation and go to La Normandie.

“A Monterey peninsula gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

If you tire of the busy Monterey and Carmel restaurant scene and want to try an unhurried dinner with a local flavor and casual feel, Le Normandie is for you. Christine and her husband have been serving wonderful French-style food on the Monterey peninsula for years but seem to have happily settled into this Pacific Grove location. We dined at Le Normandie during our recent stay in Carmel (our third visit to the restaurant). The food was wonderful, as was the onion soup, and reasonably priced. But don't make the mistake that we always do--by filling up on the great French bread before dinner arrives. There were five of us this time and we tried a chicken and two beef dishes. We were not disappointed with any of the plates. The wine list, though not extensive, has several affordable choices. Don't be afraid to ask Christine for her recommendations. She knows her stuff. We look forward to our next trip to the area and another dinner with Christine. A bit of advice: reservations are a must on weekends.
