Lover's Point Inn is not fancy and it's not perfect but I really felt like the staff wanted my stay to be as comfortable as they could possibly make it. I am usually shy to make requests but I had occasion to ask for several things and every time they responded with an eagerness to please that made me feel like they were glad I had asked because that meant they could make my stay better and that's what they wanted. Maybe it would have been nice to have everything perfect to begin with so I didn't even have to ask but I suspect that perfection goes along with the hundreds of dollars more a night you can pay in other hotels in the Monterey/Pacific Grove area.

Be aware before you go that it's an old building, the towels are thin, the bathrooms are small. But it's clean and comfortable, the location is great, the price (at least when I went) was right, and the staff are as nice and helpful as they can be.

  • Liked — Wonderful staff
  • Disliked — Road noise outside my window but only in the daytime, it was quiet at night

Whilst the location is fab and the staff were friendly, at $170 this hotel was over-priced for the room we had. We booked a non-smoking room, but the room stank of smoke and was fairly dreary generally.

The bathroom is small and the shower head was only just hanging on to the wall. The included "breakfast" is minimal, basically coffee and the kind of pre-packed pastry where the list of chemical ingredients barely fits on the wrapper.

We booked the room over the internet based on the positive reviews here, assuming that accommodation would be in short supply in the Monterey area over the Labor Day weekend. In fact there were plenty of rooms to be had for much less, and we would never have chosen this hotel if we had been able to look it over beforehand.

I had read reviews on this hotel and decided to try it out because of the price. The positives.. We paid around $150 with tax for a Sat. night which was pretty good for the area. They also had a small fridge in the room. It doesn't get that cold, but you can put drinks in there. They do have a hairdryer which was nice. It doesn't get really hot so you might want to bring your own. The ocean is right across the street so you can walk there easily. There are also weddings right there so it's pretty to watch.

The lady that was at the front at night was really nice and helpful too. The girl that was there in the morning wasn't as nice.

Now the negatives.. We got into the room and I was surprised there were no chairs.. just a bed to sit on. The decor is old which I expected, no biggie. I can understand old, but dirty.. NO! If you look in my pics you can see the floor looks like it wasn't vacummend and under the table where the tv is is dusty. The top of the fridge was dusty too. I told the lady in the front and she never said sorry or anything. Acted like it wasn't a big deal.

We had a sliding glass door in the room we stayed in. Not sure if they are all like that. Ours did no lock. The lady said she would have somebody fix it. We were on the 3rd floor so I wasn't really worried, but it still needs to be fixed.

The bathroom is really small and the shower curtain did not fit. WAY to small. It covered the front of the shower, but the back was wide open. The room we had was a queen. I'm not sure if the other rooms are a lot bigger. The bed was HORRIBLE too. The worst sleep I have had. It was hard and everytime we moved it squeeked really bad to wake us up.

Like I said for one night and the price is was okay. If you are a family I would not stay for a week or anything unless you don't mind these things. I usually stay at cheaper hotels, but I would not stay at this one again.

  • Liked — the price and the check in process and friendly person
  • Disliked — the uncomfortable bed

My family and I stayed here for two nights this summer and we have no complaints! We booked about a month in advance after reading reviews on this website along with personal recommendations from friends, and the person over the phone was very helpful and answered all the questions we had. When we arrived, they allowed us to check in a few minutes early from the 3pm check in. Since we had three very cranky kids after traveling for hours, it was nice to relax as soon as we arrived in town before going back out again. This hotel is older and it is stands out due to the color but it looked as though they were doing some remodeling since part of the outside was another color than just the pink. The room fit our needs just fine. Nothing fancy about it, a great rate for it being the middle of summer. The room was plenty fine for a family of five with two queen beds and a spot to put our portacrib for our six month old. It had a fridge and microwave, free parking and a view. That is not an easy find in such a high tourist area. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I am very pleased with our stay and will definately be going back the next time we visit the area.

  • Liked — View from our room, friendly staff, free parking

My very large family booked this location, during my graduation. The manager and workers were very nice and hospitable to my large family whom took over to hotel. The rooms are nice and spacious. Not to mention the spectacular views and close proximity to tourist spots. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

  • Liked — Loved the hospitality from the manager and the workers at this location.
  • Disliked — I dont have anything bad to say about this location.
